Macau / Hong Kong Trip – Day 03

Most of the time, people think we’re crazy for always choosing different hotels during our vacation instead of just one.
To them, it’s a hassle having to check in and out of hotels everyday and not to mention travelling from hotel A to hotel B with more than one luggage.
I know all these hassle can be quite a turn off but I’d say a little hassle is always worth it.

Besides visiting new countries and places, learning their culture, savoring local foods and what not, experiencing different hotel is one of the many things I look forward to.
Other than the good experience, staying in different hotels gave me a better idea on how I want my future house to be IF I’M LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE A HOUSE WHEREBY I CAN CONTROL THE WAY IT LOOKS.

On the third day, we moved from Mini Hotel at Central to 99 Bonham at Sheung Wan.

Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel and Partners envisioned a sculptural form for 99 Bonham, using sleek proportions that resemble the scale of an industrial design project. The monolithic glass façade and reflective tiles bring an almost abstract quality to the building, like that of a desirable object.

It was a very good stay equipped with high quality furniture that exudes a sense of elegance.
Shower amnesties were from Locitane, bed sheets from Frette, just perfect.
There are three different rooms to choose from, standard suite, premier suite and deluxe suite.

20130915-134639.jpg
#1 I booked deluxe suite because it has the highest floor zone from Agoda and I was charged at Rm540 for a night. It was supposed to be Rm700+ but my Agoda rewards managed to give me a better price.

But my suggestion is this; just go for standard suite (the cheapest choice) because there isn’t a point staying on the highest floor zone without a good Hong Kong view. Might as well save some extra bucks.

20130915-134612.jpg
#2 Dining area. 99 Bonham can make quite a perfect place for a honeymoon staycation.

20130915-134716.jpg
#3 Bathroom with mirrors everywhere.

20130915-134528.jpg
#4 Mirrorception.

20130915-134654.jpg
#5 There are rooms with bathtub and there are rooms without and if you’re a bathtub freak like I am, you need to make your request.

20130915-134737.jpg
#6 Kitchenette area with stove, microwave, mini fridge, and all the utensils you need.

20130915-134624.jpg
#7 View from our room which totally explains why you don’t have to stay so high up.

After checking in 99 Bonham, we took MTR to Mongkok and waited for Foon and Victor at Langham Place.
Both of them went all the way back to Tung Chung after clubbing which is really really far away.

20130915-134850.jpg
#8 We agreed on having dim sum and nothing attracted me more than this one Michelin star dim sum joint. (But meh.)

Tim Ho Wan has a few branches and only two were given one Michelin Star, the one at Mongkok and another one at Sham Sui Po.

20130915-134902.jpg
#9 The one at Mongkok shifted to Olympus plaza. I’ve been hoping to go to a very old scool Hong Kong dim sum joint but turns out it was the total opposite.
There were long queues when we arrived, so we waited for about 20 minutes to half an hour.

20130915-134923.jpg
#10 Hong Kong style ‘Loh Mai Kai’ which was huge!

#15

20130915-135107.jpg
#16 Fried lobak or ‘zin lobak gou’ which was the best because it was full with lobak.

Not that the dim sum we ate at Tim Ho Wan wasn’t good, quality wise it was really better than what I had in Malaysia (the cheap dim sums) but it really wasn’t THAT good that they deserve a one star from Michelin.
Fatty told me the dim sum joint he usually goes to was better and it’s the old school dim sum restaurant type that I wanted to go to. :(
Tim Ho Wan definitely is not the best so don’t bother trying and queuing up.

20130915-135147.jpg
#17 After dim sum we went over to K11 Mall for Paul Lafayet.

20130915-135156.jpg
#18 I mean how can I not try Paul Layefet’s creme brulee, they are so so goooooooooooood!

20130915-135207.jpg
#19 We then rushed back to Sheung Wan for a tea break but it turned out to be another eating session. Classified is really famous among the gwailos as you can tell from the picture, and also among the hipster I assume.

20130915-135218.jpg
#20

20130915-135228.jpg
#21 That’s where they store all their cheeses.

20130915-135255.jpg
#22 Ordered ravioli, burger, and pizza to share among us four. Food was okay but I’d much rather keep my tummy space for some real Hong Kong food.

I cant remember the price but everything was expensive. A plate of this is for HKD88 and a plate for that is about HKD98 so you do the math.
After our early dinner we went our separate ways, so Fatty and I followed our itinerary to No.9 Central Pier.

20130915-135332.jpg
#23 One of my Hong Kong’s trip highlight was Aqua Luna BUT THEY WEREN’T OPERATING ON THAT DAY BECAUSE THEY WERE BOOKED FOR ASTON MARTIN FUNCTION! Really screw this Aston Martin. A glimpse of Aqua Luna was the only thing I had, pfft.

Aqua Luna is a traditional hand built Chinese junk which has been restored and is now serving as a bar.
There are different packages offered by Aqua Luna.
One day unlimited pass from 12pm-5pm is HKD100 for adult and HKD80 for children.
For evening cruises starting from 5.30pm, ticket is price at HKD195 for adults and HKD155 for children.
The package that I initially picked was ‘Symphony of Lights Cruise’, priced at HKD260 for adults and HKD210 for children.

Symphony of Light Cruise starts sailing at 7.30 from Tsim Sha Tsui pier and other than enjoying the sailing, guest will get to enjoy Symphony of Light too, on a junk.
Imagine my disappointment.
Okay, keep it for next time and my Ngong Ping too which Fatty successfully talked me out of it.

20130915-135340.jpg
#24 Took pictures at the pier and off we went.

20130915-135423.jpg
#25 Walked around Sheung Wan area.

20130915-135438.jpg
#26 And we came across TenRen!! OMG I miss TenRen ever since I came back from Melbourne.

20130915-135512.jpg
#27 Walked all the way to tram stop because I requested Fatty to bring me for a tram ride.

20130915-135451.jpg
#28 I actually quite like taking trams. Heh.

20130915-134448.jpg
#29 Tram driver offered to take a picture for me. :)

20130915-135500.jpg
#30 Love how old the tram looks.

20130915-134410.jpg
#31

20130915-135556.jpg
#32 We both were really full but I wanted to try Butao Ramen so badly I didn’t care. There were 4 flavours to choose from and I picked Pesto Ramen. If Fatty weren’t that full he will go for original. He always likes his ramen in its most original flavour.

20130915-135641.jpg
#33 That’s how you choose your ramen, flavour, with eggs or without, with seaweed or without and so on.

20130915-135539.jpg
#34 Butao Ramen shifted to two streets away from it’s old location and it does look a lot like a ramen bar in Japan.

20130915-135525.jpg
#35

20130915-135726.jpg
#36 Pesto ramen with two extra eggs.

20130915-135738.jpg
#37 Eggs were cooked perfectly and the ramen was good too.

After eating, we headed to Mongkok for a walk before calling it a day.
We went to Ladies street and I was hoping to buy a thing or two home but it turned out to be too expensive.
About Rm100 for a bag at a place like pasar malam, that’s quite a joke. Haha.

20130915-135757.jpg
#38 Love the horizontal street lights.

20130915-135821.jpg
#39 For the male.

20130915-135832.jpg
#40 Polo bun which I almost forgot to eat.

20130915-135842.jpg
#41 Stuffed half a polo bun before going to bed with a very full tummy.

Macau / Hong Kong Trip – Day 02

The night before was a long day, I did my usual bathtub-thing and fall asleep on the bed later on while the guys went to casino.
The next day, we ate hotel’s buffet breakfast before heading out and to be frank their breakfast sucks.
So if you ever choose Sheraton as your hotel in Macau, stay away from their breakfast. I’d much rather pay and have much better food in Macau.

20130913-142736.jpg
#1 The only bowl of noodle which can keep my mouth shut, not that it’s really good but the beef soup keeps my tummy warm.

I wasn’t in my best-est mood because I had food poisoning right before my trip (meh) and I wasn’t entirely recover when I was at Macau.
After breakfast we were on the move to the place I most look forwarded to, Macau Giant Panda Pavilion at Coloane.

20130913-142808.jpg
#2 Panda!!! I was really excited and happy because that day was the first (and currently the only) time I saw a real panda right in front of me. I couldn’t contain my happiness, I just kept smiling and omg-ing cause panda is pretty irresistible.

If you’re planning for a Macau trip and you’ve never seen a real panda, this place is definitely a must go. Or a must go if you simply just love Panda.
My friend went to Ocean Park in Hong Kong and waited for the panda for an hour and all she could see was the cctv hahaha!
Kesian her.
Another reason why Macau Giant Panda Pavilion must be put in your itinerary is because the entrance fee is so cheap you can’t pass this by. It’s only MOP10 per entrance which is lesser than RM5. #saywhat!

I also heard that Malaysia is gonna loan two pandas from China and the entrance fee will be like Rm100+ and although I don’t know how true this is but I figured Rm5 for an entrance do me no harm.

20130913-142842.jpg
#3 See!!!!! I literally died of it’s cuteness.

20130914-122240.jpg
#4 I wish I could have the panda as my pet, then I can lay it on all day all night like a beanbag. :D

Here’s a little tip : The best time to visit according to my research is during morning because that’s when the panda eat their breakfast.
For the entire time, this panda was just eating and eating and munching on the bamboo leaves.

20130913-142851.jpg
#5 If you come at another timing, I don’t know what you’ll get but probably this. Sleeping far far away.

There are a few more animals around like monkeys and all that which makes the MOP10 I paid even more worth it than it already is.
After ooh-ing and aah-ing over the pandas, we head back to Taipa and went over to Venetian.

20130913-142908.jpg
#6 Venetian is really big and spacious but I wasn’t very much interested because first, I cant shop and second (I don’t know why) this somehow just kept reminding me of Genting’s First World.

Venetian was also themed on Venice which from what I remembered look nothing like Venice so…..
Big space, expensive shops, just really not my thing.
There’s one thing that impressed me though, the gondoliers were real (unlike the one in Genting) and they will serenade you with a song or two.

20130913-142938.jpg
#7 Lord Stow’s was the reason as to why I want to go to Venetian.

20130913-142950.jpg
#8 I so want one right now!!

Lord Stow’s is very famous for their Portuguese egg tart and once you take a bite, you can clearly see why there’s a queue right outside.
After Lord Stow’s we took a ferry to Hong Kong and that’s when shit happened.
Rain happened I mean.

20130913-143029.jpg
#9 For the first night we booked Mini Hotel at Central (there’s two) and it sure does live up to it’s name, mini.
Of course, I’ve expected it to be that mini from the beginning, we only paid HKD550 (RM250).

20130913-143038.jpg
#10 Mini Hotel’s waiting area.

20130913-143046.jpg
#11 Though the room is very small but I like the idea that they put in effort into decorating their lounge area making it as comfortable as possible.

20130913-143057.jpg
#12 It’s just nice.

20130913-143213.jpg
#13 Stayed on the 10th floor.

20130913-143129.jpg
#14 What you see here in the picture is the entire room, hahaha!

20130913-143137.jpg
#14 This is mini-er than mini! I’m fine with small rooms since I’m very petite so the size of it doesn’t really bother me. If you’re big size or claustrophobic you might want to reconsider. And yes, the washroom/bathroom is covered only with glass aherm. I guess this will be fine for couples (let’s be real here) but if you’re travelling with your bff I don’t think glass-covered bathroom will make you feel comfortable.

Also if you look at the toilet bowl, you can’t sit on it and close the glass door unless you sit side way (which is what I did HAHA) BUT my fat boyfriend couldn’t sit side way so he did his ‘business’ without the door close while I was sleeping. I woke up suddenly prolly because of the smell and he gave me this innocent look and said ‘sorry sorry, I can’t close the door and I cant sit side way like you did. sorry’.
I wanted to kill him right then but thinking back now I feel like laughing at his reaction hahaha!

20130913-143204.jpg
#15 Though small, the room has everything you need. There’s tv, hair dryer, and a boiler. Oh wait there’s also a safe underneath the bed.

20130913-143148.jpg
#16 If you’re fatter than fatty, I suggest you not book Mini Hotel at Central because the shower area might not fit.

Mini Hotel at Central though small but the location make up for it. 3 minutes walk to Lan Kwai Fong, 5 minutes walk to The Peak Tram station, 10 minues walk to IFC, and 5 minutes car ride from Macau Ferry Terminal. How great is that?

20130913-143239.jpg
#17 After settling down we headed to Sing Heung Yuen (勝香園), one of the very few dai pai dongs left in Hong Kong for a quick lunch.
Sing Heung Yuen is just right opposite the all time famouse Kau Kee beef noodle.

It was suppose to be an enjoyable walk from our hotel whereby I explore the streets of Hong Kong for the first time but it rained. Mtfk. Haha sorry for the rudeness but damn!

20130913-143250.jpg
#18 The simplest tomato and beef noodle, HKD26. From what I’ve noticed, Hong Kong’s food portion is huge! Two person can definitely share a bowl.

20130913-143258.jpg
#19 Crispy toast that turned out to be too crispy for my braces.

20130913-143313.jpg
#20 Walked around Soho for a bit and I definitely like it there. Soho and Sheung Wan is love.

20130913-143329.jpg
#21 Went into Abercrombie and Fitch to look at chandeliers and muscular guys. One minute I went in these guys were wearing their denim shirts and the next they weren’t wearing any shirts. I mean what kind of job is that, showing off muscles haha! But at least they look good, their muscles match their height and it’s not overdone. Guys who overdo it looks like they’re gonna tumble any minute lol.

20130913-143340.jpg
#22 While walking towards The Peak Tram station.

Two way tram ticket to The Peak costs HKD75 (RM32) which is not expensive at all.
We went up on a Saturday night and the queue going up and coming down was long. I cant quite feel my legs then.

20130913-143354.jpg
#23 I have a thing for trams.

20130913-143415.jpg
#24 Since the weather isn’t at it’s best, I was afraid I couldn’t get a clear view from The Peak but thank God the view was quite clear that night.

20130913-143430.jpg
#25 Super pale me and fatty. I wasn’t feeling too well, it was raining and The Peak was cold and windy due to the rain. Walking the whole day mostly under the rain didn’t help.

20130913-143443.jpg
#26 Cold die. How am I suppose to go to a place with 0 degree Celsius.

20130913-143453.jpg
#27 The boys and a umbrella from Circle K which is a very lousy umbrella I must say.

20130913-143501.jpg
#28 Because it kept flipping and flipping it gets so annoying!

Had dinner at Tsui Wah after The Peak with Foon before the night really begins.

20130913-143513.jpg
#29 Fatty’s champagne milk tea.

20130913-143523.jpg
#30 Cutest cup ever for my nai cha.

20130913-143529.jpg
#31 So I heard Tsui Wah have very good Hainanese chicken rice and when it comes to chicken rice, I can’t quite say no. But damn, it wasn’t half as good as what we have here in Malaysia.

Tsui Wah is overly price and the food was mediocre so don’t bother.

20130913-143643.jpg
#32 Changed and headed to Lan Kwai Fong which to me is KL’s Changkat.

20130913-143719.jpg
#33

20130913-143747.jpg
#34 As usual I was the only one who wasn’t drinking.

After one round of beers at Lan Kwai Fong, my man wanted to try Hong Kong’s club so off we went. We decided on the club called Play.
Clubbing in Hong Kong is extremely expensive! Cover charge is price at around HKD300 to HKD400 per person without drinks and a glass of alcohol costs about HKD100. Clubbing in Malaysia suddenly became so much cheaper.

20130913-143807.jpg
#35 Play was pretty awesome. There were lots of pretty people there that night, most looked like models. The gwailos were all tall and handsome, Foon and I couldn’t stop staring.

20130913-143759.jpg
#36 But my Fatty also not bad lah.

20130913-143813.jpg
#37 So she said Play was the best club she went to in Hong Kong and it was really pretty good. I’d say a lot better than Butter Factory, so go figure.

I was having fun until I became too tired and cant wait to hit the sack.
It was a very very long day.

45 Lekiu : Unexpected hidden gem in Malacca

More than half a year ago I found this little gem in Malacca called ‘The Stable’ by Musang Lena Residences which I fell in love with instantly.
I was glad that I had the chance to enjoy my one night at ‘The Stable’ for my birthday and what was better than ‘The Stable’ is ’45 Lekiu’.

I did mention in my birthday post that I will wait for my bff to be back so that we can enjoy ’45 Lekiu’ together and indeed we did, on a Sunday 2 days before she flew back to UK.
We were even joined by Ee’s parents and sister, it was fun. :)

The guesthouse draws its inspiration from the rich tapestry of Malacca and capture everything Malacca stands for – heritage, culture and history. Located in the heart of Malacca’s UNESCO World Heritage site, the 1941 pre-war art deco building has been painstakingly restored into a stylish abode epitomizing a “new luxury” that is smart, pared down and tampered with healthy dose of wit and charm while maintaining it’s old world quaintness.

45 Lekiu is a very spacious 3 stories guesthouse that exudes a sense of old charm decorated with contemporary pieces and centuries old furnishings, offering a lap pool and rooftop for panaromic view of old Malacca.

It took us a few rounds around Jonker Walk before we could find where 45 Lekiu was located because 45 Lekiu blended too well with the other shop lots and we missed it.
There is one parking lot right in front of 45 Lekiu for the guests, so worry not.

Once we arrived, we were taught by the housekeeper on how to navigate their digital door lock and she showed us around the house explaining and differentiating the switches to us.

20130623-111931.jpg
#1 As we enter, we passed by a kitchenette on the left equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, and a coffee machine. We were also given a complimentary bottle of red wine, how nice. Oh, and the fruits were free too.

20130623-111642.jpg
#2 On the right is where the stairs are, leading to second floor.

20130623-112258.jpg
#4 There is a flat screen HDTV, a DVD player, Astro, an Ipod dock, DVDs and books on the first floor.

#5 Love the bricks, love the wooden beams, and love the Chinese furniture.

#19 Spacious enough for two.

#22 The second bedroom is on the third floor.

20130623-112401.jpg
#23 ATTIC BEDROOM! I’ve always love attic bedroom but such bedrooms are so rare in Malaysia. One downside though, knowing our weather it was really hot and stuffy.

#26 Not sure what’s the purpose of the chair, maybe for our partner to sit and accompany us while we do our business. :X

There’s only two toilets, one at the end of the pool and another is in the master bedroom.
For the attic bedroom, there’s only a basin for guests to wash up.

20130623-112459.jpg
#27 My boyfriend on the rocking chair enjoying his beer.

Overall I enjoyed my stay at 45 Lekiu very very much and indeed it is a hidden gem in Jonker Walk.
It was very comfortable, blasting air-condition, listening to music and chit-chatting with people I love.
The only problem is that once you’re inside 45 Lekiu, you’ll be tempted to stay put and not go anywhere else.

Fatty’s 24th Construction Birthday Party

Theme party is love and I’ve always love a good one.

I organized a buay paiseh colour theme party for my 21st birthday four years ago and colour theme party is the easiest to organize without a doubt.
Guys wore black, girls wore white while I wore red because I buay paiseh hahaha!

After my own 21st I helped with my BFF’s bow tie 21st birthday party where all guys were required to wear shirts while the girls wear tube dresses along with the bow ties we handed out to them.

Not to forget the pastel birthday party I had with my girls and Vivien & Cindy’s rainbow birthday party.
To level up a notch, (HAHA) I tried not to organize another colour theme party.

I organized a construction party on Labour Day’s eve for my fatty’s 24th and it wasn’t a random pick.
Some of you may wonder, aren’t my fatty suppose to be back in Melbourne. Yes he was suppose to but there were visa complications and he will only be able to go back by next year. Currently he is working for his dad at a site, hence construction site party. :)

It was a funny research because all the construction party pictures and ideas I saw when I googled was construction party for little boys but my boy is 24!
I tried hard to eliminate everything that looks too cute.

#1 I booked the whole Sekeping Terasek at Bangsar and kept the entire surprise from Fatty.

#2 42A.

20130515-160524.jpg
#3 Sekeping Terasek is a two storey terrace house, with a rooftop and a dip pool.

#4 Living area where the guys chilled during night time.

20130515-160500.jpg
#5 Gotta love natural skylight.

20130515-160416.jpg
#6 This is the room Fatty and I slept in that night, on the ground floor. I was smart enough (LOL) to pick a room on ground floor cause there wasn’t any please-help-me-drag-my-fat-boyfriend-upstairs kind of story when he was drunk.

20130515-160404.jpg
#7 Little outdoor area in the room.

There are 5 rooms all together and those who stayed for a night were all couples and each coupled paid Rm200 for the room.

20130515-160358.jpg
#11 So much love for this place.

#12 From the second floor, I can see what’s happening downstairs.

20130515-160425.jpg
#15 I knew Fatty will love this rooftop a lot and he did but he got drunk too early, he didn’t get to enjoy it.

#16 My friends helping me to set up because I WAS TOO BUSY TRYING TO COOK!!

I bought construction tape and decorate the house with it, along with three helium balloons.

20130515-160333.jpg
#17 My bff who helped me right after she came back to KL!

20130515-160319.jpg
#18 Made a total of four finger foods for the guests.

20130515-160313.jpg
#19 Bacon wrapped seared scallop in asparagus puree and watermelon prosciutto with blue cheese.

20130515-160308.jpg
#20 Smoked salmon timbale with spicy crab meat and foie gras on bruschetta with fig compote.

I printed some signs that are somewhat related to construction and used it to decorate on my food.
That smoking sign you saw wasn’t suppose to be there, it was suppose to stick on ash trays but I was tooooooo busy the whole day I can’t seem to manage.
My dear friends lend me a helping hand and helped me to decorate the rest of the party without knowing the purpose of some signs heh.

20130516-125757.jpg
#21 Bought black paper plates & straws, yellow utensils, and orange cups & serviettes to match my construction theme.

Besides the four finger foods, I made two pasta as main course which I learned from Nathalie but it kind of failed quite miserably. :(
Before the night of the party I prepared all my sauces for the pasta but when we transferred these sauces from the car to Sekeping Terasek, it dropped and spilled. :(
So I ended up going to grocery again and recooking everything on the spot which is what made me sooooooo busy the entire day.

I was a mess and became even messier because I couldn’t handle so many things.
My timing were set right but due to the spill, I was really off track which somehow contributed to the failure. Pfft :(
My friends really love my mushroom tagliatelle though but the ravioli couldn’t make it unfortunately.
I hope I didn’t starve my friends. :\

20130515-160230.jpg
#22 Construction birthday cake! :D I initially wanted to order Fatty a floor plan cake but Wondermilk couldn’t make it happen for me because they don’t use fondant and the reason I picked Wondermilk is also because I don’t really like fondant. I prefer butter icing but it definitely has it’s limit. In the end I ordered Chocolate Lola cake and decorated it with some construction toy sets and a set of builders candle which I bought. It turned out pretty well and as expected, I secretly like it a lot. Heh.

20130515-160234.jpg
#23 My fat boy was kinda tipsy by then, he couldn’t recall how the cake exactly looks like the next day. As long as he is happy lor…

20130515-160224.jpg
#24 Pictures were mostly taken by friends once the party started, I was still busy doing this and that. So thank you very much my friends for capturing the moment. :)

20130515-160242.jpg
#25 Poor fat boy were then tied to the pole with the caution construction tape.

20130515-160247.jpg
#26 I somehow got stuck with him too when I tried to help. I also bought him the construction hat as a prop but soon enough he will be using it everyday at his site. :)

20130515-160252.jpg
#27 Booppi, me, and fat boy.

20130516-123839.jpg
#28 18sx! His hand was at a very wrong place aherm. -_-‘

20130515-160257.jpg
#29 The girls were busy taking pictures while the guys were busy talking about nonsense behind.

20130515-160920.jpg
#30 :)

20130515-160303.jpg
#31 Fatty’s redness from alcohol + his darkness from standing under the hot sun everyday = a colour I cant describe.
He used to be so fair but look at that picture above! D:

After taking pictures and him babbling out all the nonsense (which shall remain a secret among us friends), he took off his clothes and jumped into the pool.
He knocked himself so hard, I was worried to death but because he was too tipsy to feel it he said he didn’t knock on anything. Mmkay.
Once he got up from the pool, he got so drunk he vomited in the bathroom and ko-ed for the night dafuq.
I WAS WAITING FOR THE PARTY TO END SO THAT WE COULD CUDDLE BUT THEN HE KO-ED!! RAWR!
No one sayang me after a day of hard work lol. :(

To all the friends that came, thank you so much for coming and to Bryan Chong thank you for taking the picture above.
To Weng Kee, thank you for fetching me so often to supermarkets so that I can get all my groceries for the party.
To Bff, thank you for helping me with the cooking and bringing back my props.
To Billy (although I know he doesn’t read this wtf), thank you for helping with the surprise and successfully tricked Fatty into thinking that he’s attending some posh event LOL.
To Abel and Poh, thank you for lending me a helping hand when he was drunk and sorry that you guys have to take a look at his naked body LOL!

Dear Fatty,
A year older, a year wiser they said and I think to some extend it is true when you hit 24 this year.
People may have judge you or may have talked a lot about why are you still here instead of finishing your course but there are a lot that they don’t know or see in you.
I am very proud of you because you take your job so seriously this time, it kinda scare me a little.
You seem to be so passionate and so responsible that you even goes to work on Sunday sometimes.
You don’t mind the extra time, the extra work, the heat and getting sunburn because all you want is to do a good job for your dad.
How can I not be proud of you (although you’re very fat)!

Keep it going!
And this time next year, you will be so much more closer to where you stopped. :)

Ending my post with a picture of…..

#31 Fatty’s fatness. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Continue growing wiser but definitely needs to stop growing horizontally.

A trip to Bali with family – Day 1 & Day 2.

Greetings!

I am back from Bali after 10 days and I brought back sunburns on my shoulders.
Never had any sunburn in my life before!
I bought the air tickets during Chinese New Year when Airasia was having zero fare sales and my two way air tickets to Bali costed me only Rm120.
That was by far the cheapest air tickets that I’ve bought.
I only paid for my air tickets and the remaining expenses was paid by my mom. :D
The last time she sponsored us a holiday was 12 years ago to Europe, this time it is a rare case.

Unlike the usual me who’ll do tons of research before going on a holiday, I researched nothing this time.
I did not book the hotels, plan for the itinerary or even research for restaurants. I left it all to my brother.
I wasn’t as enthusiastic as going to a trip with Fatty because the differences between me, my mom and my brother is too significant to ignore.
I just kind of follow.

The three of us reached Denpasar airport at 11pm+ and seeing that we arrived late at night, my brother picked a hotel that is not too far away from the airport which is Legian Tunes Hotel.
I’ve had quite a good experience with Penang’s Tunes Hotel but it wasn’t the same with Legian Tunes Hotel.

IMG_1576
#1 Me in my dad’s polo tee. <3 IMG_1577
#2 The room is really really small as what I have expected, so it wasn’t much of a problem. What you see here is already 90% of the room space.

IMG_1578
#3 Small isn’t a problem but not being kept clean is. Penang’s Tunes Hotel was so clean and bright, and the bed was really comfortable too.

I was rather shocked by Legian Tunes Hotel room condition but what can I say, it only cost IDR231,500 which is RM75+.

IMG_1580
#4 Small walkway to Legian Tunes Hotel.

We checked out the next morning to Matahari Guest House at Kuta for two days and a day costs about RM90+.
I’d say Matahari Guest House is a better choice than Tunes as the room given was a lot more spacious, with cupboard, television, and a refrigerator.

#5 A picture of Matahari Guest House room I took from Trip Advisor because I cant be bothered to snap a picture of the room.

20130318-155341.jpg
#6 And that’s me in the room.

We went for lunch after dropping off our luggage and since my brother did not do much research on food, I looked it up on Foursquare.

IMG_1584
#7 Nasi Pedas Ibu Andika came up on foursquare with a pretty good rating, sort of like nasi campur.

IMG_1585
#8 Nasi Pedas Ibu Andika and it was bloody pedas! It was scorching hot, the restaurant was stuffy, and my lunch was extremely spicy. Not recommended if you’re a person who cant take in spicy food.

My brother and I walked to Kuta Beach while my mom took a nap in our room.
Kuta is one of the most popular beaches as it is accessible and more commercialized with lots of shops around.

20130318-155431.jpg
#9 Entrance to Kuta Beach.

20130318-155426.jpg
#10 Not a very impressive beach in my opinion, there’s quite a lot of rubbishes around.

#14 Yours truly under the hot sun.

When you’re at Bali, you definitely need a driver to fetch you around as the island is really big or you can rent yourself a bike/car.
We booked a local driver and his name is Made Supmarjaya. He charged IDR250,000 (RM80/5 hours) for half a day and IDR400,000 (RM130/10 hours) for a full day service.
I highly recommend you look for him as your driver because he keeps smiling all the way.
He drives safe, he’s friendly, he doesn’t smoke, and he kind of doesn’t mind if he has to fetch an hour extra (without asking for extra pay). /thumbs up

We booked him for half day on the second day and he fetched us to Suluban beach, few kms from Uluwatu.

IMG_1590
#15 You need to walk down a narrow cave like stairs to reach Suluban beach.

20130318-155355.jpg
#20 It was really crowded when we were there, some were drinking Bintang beer, some were reading a book, while some walked around by the beach and some kids had a lot of fun playing with the sand.

Studio M Hotel at Singapore

Where: Studio M
What: Hotel

My booking at Marina Bay Sands went wrong and instead of four days, they only managed to book three days stay for me.
I really don’t mind at all since we were done with Zouk Out and it is also a better idea for us to stay nearer to town, so I started browsing Agoda.

Half way through, Fatty suggested Studio M.
Most of the time when we brought up Singapore in our conversation, he mentioned Studio M as he really fancy that hotel.
I myself saw Studio M’s pictures on the internet for a lot of times too and I adore their loft idea, so why not?
In fact, I was quite happy all along because I do have absolute trust on Fatty’s taste and I’ve been wanting to try out Studio M since quite some time ago.

#1 Studio M Hotel is part of Millennium & Copthorne Hotels and Studio M is the only hotel that I actually like from Millennium group in Singapore.

Apart from Studio M, the other remaining hotels from Millennium group does not have much significance among themselves to me.
So instead of picking the boring ones, I thought why not we pick a hotel that excites like Studio M.
Studio M is meant to cater for young travelers who relish urban contemporary chic. Not to mention, it is Singapore’s first loft concept hotel.

#2 ‘Designed by renowned Italian maestro Piero Lissoni, Studio M is a modern refuge which epitomizes chic and savvy living , with intuitive attention to facilities and technology.’

#3 Displays at the lobby which brighten up the place.

#4 And other random displays along the way.

#5 If you need to use the computer, there’re two Macs ready for you.

#6 Spacious area by the pool. If you notice on the top right of the picture, there’s a pool sort of hanging which is really cool too. It is Hotel Gallery’s swimming pool, covered by glass and you get to see people swimming in it from Studio M.

#7 Studio M’s pool is a 25-metre lap pool and they have jacuzzi too.

#8 Private cabanas for those who prefer some privacy.

#9 Shitty picture cant explain why I like their corridor! Love the light they use by each room’s door.

I booked a Premier Loft for $240 inclusive of tax and I got a free upgrade to Executive Loft and I was so happy because that was the first time I got a room upgrade in my life.
But my life has always been so sad that even if I got a free upgrade, I cant put it to use.

#10 This is Studio M’s Executive Loft.

#11 For a clearer view.

#12 Area where we brush up and make ourself a cup of coffee.

#13 Take the stairs up and that’s our queen size bed with a tv in front of it.

#14 Executive loft has got a 3-metre height bay windows and I love the windows! It is from one end to another end, so it’s really nice to walk around the curtains and check out what is happening around just like how my boyfriend check out the girls by the pool.

#15 As to why I didn’t get to enjoy my executive loft is because there aren’t any sofa bed in it. Only studio loft and premier loft comes with a sofa bed, so I was forced to go for premier loft instead.

Actually there isn’t much difference comparing premier loft and executive loft.
There’s an additional tv in the executive loft and the toilet comes attach with the bathroom while premier loft has one toilet and one bathroom, seperated.
All executive lofts is tucked at the corner of each level providing all the privacy that you need.

#16 I also prefer executive loft’s colour as the colour they used is lighter compared to premier loft.

#17 Heading out :)

My stay at Studio M was lovely. Their bed was so comfortable I had such a great sleep, even better than Marina Bay Sands.
I love the entire loft idea and also love their huge ass windows.

One final plus point is that Studio M provides complimentary shuttle service to a few places, one being Orchard Road.
Absolutely hassle free. :)

One decent picture from the internet.

Take Note:
* Toilet/Bathroom is a tad small, so if you’re obese please reconsider.
* Parking is free for hotel guest, do ask for parking ticket at the lobby.
* Clark Quay MRT station is 10 minutes walk.
* Orchard Road is only 5 minutes drive away.
* For coffee lovers, there’s an Illy shop just right in the hotel.
* Free complimentary shuttle service from Studio M to place, do ask for a timetable from lobby.
