Yut Kee, a Hainanese coffee shop older than you and me.

Last year when I was somewhere around KL town , Fatty wanted to take me to a Hainanese coffee shop called Yut Kee but our luck wasn’t with us that day. It was closed.

Not long before I was at KL town again during lunch hour and he said let’s give it a try, secretly hoping that they’re not close.
Luck was with us that day.
He brought me there, it was my first time.

* Kedai Makanan Yut Kee.

* Yut Kee has been operating for more than 80 years, as old as our grandparents and they served western chops to Chinese fried noodles and rice.

* Ice tea and ice coffee to keep the both of us awake. Rm1.50 each.

* Half boiled eggs for the male, Rm2.50.

* Pork chop, one of Yut Kee’s signature dish served with brown sauce, onions, mixed peas and carrots, and also potato wedges – Rm10. Fatty ordered pork chop and I find it rather dry and hard, I’m not a pork chop fan.

* So I decided to order their lamb chop instead which cost Rm13 and boy, I was so very disappointed. I LOVE lamb, for your information but I hate lamb without that ‘funny lamb smell’. We Chinese called it as ‘sou’.
It’s just that lamb smell that makes me love eating lamb and without that smell, I WILL GET MAD!!
So first thing, obviously this plate of lamb chop do not have that ‘funny lamb smell’ which most elder Chinese preferred it to be and secondly it’s a little hard for me to chew.

The sauce they used for their chops are all the same brown sauce, but the brown sauce did not impress me a tiny bit and it certainly did not compliment my my lamb chop at all. I’m sorry. ):

* Moving on, we ordered a plate of oh-so-famous Roti Babi, Rm8.00.

* This is how the fillings look like. If I were to eat this dish first before my lamb chop, I might have enjoyed it more. I like how the bread tasted like after being deep fried.

* The interior of Yut Kee and the owners sitting right in front.

All in all, I walked out feeling rather disappointed because I was expecting more due to the fact that I kind of trust Fatty when it comes to food.
For that price, I could have a better lunch.

Putting it this way, the food is NOT THAT BAD just that there’s nothing much to rave about. Really.
However, you can still go over to have a cup of coffee and order a plate of Roti Babi and try it yourself.
Just something different sometimes.

Brunch at Seremban.

Seremban, the capital state of Negeri Sembilan is just 45 minutes drive away from KL.
‘What do you know about Seremban?’ If you ask me this question a year ago, I’ll answer you I know nothing except for the infamous Siew Pau and Siew Hai (Grilled Crab).
To me, states worth visiting in Malaysia will always be states like Penang, Ipoh, and Melaka.
These states are famous for food and the more popular a place is, the more happening it will be.
Which is why I ignored places like Seremban or Johor because to me these places are boring, with no activities for me.
I was wrong. Very wrong.

There are a lot more to explore and I shouldn’t be this ignorant.
In fact I’m pretty sick of places like Penang already, it’s time for something new.

Back to Seremban, all I know for now is that this place do have some really good food which most Malaysians do not know of.
How I get to know this if you wonder, it’s from Fatty because his hometown is in Seremban itself.

If you remember, I posted one of Seremban’s delicacies which is their Beef Noodles from her famous wet market.
Needless to say, I fell in love with it.
Then there was once where Fatty bought me a packet of noodles specially from Seremban which I have never heard of.
I was eagerly waiting while he reheated the noodles for me and I cant believe how good it tasted!
Ever since that day, I always asked him when do I get to go visit Seremban again for all the irresistable food.

And one fine day, he decided to bring me after much persuading.
We both woke up real early that day because if you’re late, there wont be much left for you.
You wouldn’t want to go back empty stomach, would you?

* On our way to Seremban. Haha! I’ve got no idea what is he trying to do with his palm.

* And then his fist!

We ate three different noodles that day.

* First destination, Kedai Kopi Yung Seng.

* It’s called ‘Ah Yi Lou Shu Fun” or ‘Ah Yi Noodles’ which too I have never heard of.

* This is how it looks like when the plate of ‘Ah Yi Noodles’ arrived at my table. What you see here is Seremban ‘Lou Shu Fun’ which is totally different from the normal ‘Lou Shu Fun’ we had in KL. Different in shape, look, and texture. ‘Ah Yi Lou Shu Fun’ has really thick gravy, served with shredded eggs, minced meat, and green onions.

* Before you savour this plate of Seremban ‘Lou Shu Fun’, you need to stir and mix the black sauce along with the thick gravy. This plate of noodle is extremely cheap, only for Rm3.
I don’t quite know how to describe this noodle, really. A very simple noodle that taste good enough to turn your meal into an enjoyable one.

* Second destination, Pasar Besar Seremban or also known as Seremban famous wet market.

* Hioong Kee Mee Hoon Sotong, which is the noodle Fatty bought for me or we called it as ‘Yau Yu Mai Fun’ in Chinese.

* Served with a rather watery gravy, fried vermicelli (fried mee hoon), sotong, pork, and vegetables for only Rm3.50 per bowl. What specialty does this bowl of vermicelli with a few slices of pork and sotong hold? Well, the vermicelli is fried beforehand so it emits a pleasant crisp-burnt smell while the meat is braised in a huge pot to perfect tenderness and sliced to excellent thickness. When everything combines together, it’s a bowl made in heaven.

For my own preference, I’ll always go for thick gravy instead of watery gravy.
So if you’re like me, who cant get enough of this ‘bowl made in heaven’ and also a person who loves thick gravy as much as I do, try this :
Take away a bowl of noodles home and while you reheat it in a pot, add in corn flour to thicken the gravy.
I prefer it being in thick gravy, anytime.

* Third destination, also located inside Pasar Besar Seremban which is Seremban’s infamous beef noodle.

* Seremban ‘Lou Shu Fun’ served with a thick gravy, peanuts, sesame seeds and mixed beef. Looking at this picture alone makes me salivate. Sometimes it is pretty torturous to do food post. Dayumn! Rm6 if I’m not wrong.
Here’s the post where I’ve talked about it earlier on.

Instead of going to Melaka for food trip, try going to Seremban for a change.
In fact, you can actually do both in a day. You’ll reach Seremban before you reach Melaka anyway.
There are more good food from Seremban that I have yet to try, but someday I will when the boyfriend is free enough.

Time to gather your friends? (:

The Only Pan Mee I Eat!

My title tells it all.
A short post about pan mee.
Basically, I don’t really like pan mee. Whatever food I order from kopitiam, it will never be pan mee.
First, it’s because my mom cooks it so its like I can eat it at home.
Second, I also don’t like to eat pan mee geh!!

But this ‘kon lo lat jiu pan mee’ (dry chili pan mee) caught my heart.
Like seriously this is the only pan mee I eat.
I tried Jojo pan mee, but still not as good as this ‘mei yi pan mee’.

* Madam Chiam Curry Noodle House or Mei Yi pan mee as we use to call it.

* Kon lo lat jiu pan mee plus egg. *slurp* :9

* After i add in the dried chili and mix it all together. I did not add in much chili though, a little too spicy for me.

I love this kon lo pan mee so much, I always crave for it.
I like the mee texture with the watery egg and a bit of lime.
Tasty, jeng jeng.

It’s located at Cheras, Taman Connaught.
I’m sure you know about Connaught’s oh-so-famous pasar malam.
There’s a turning to left where everyone turns to get into Taman Len Sen.
The shop is located at the left hand side. If you get to see KK Mart, you’ll see the only pan mee i eat.

I really find this better than Jojo. :X

I’ll try to make you drool…

…and by that, it means foooood time.
Err, I mean pictures. Hee.. :’D

It’s been so long since I do food post, I’m lazy. :X
Here’s a few random ones, I ate last few weeks till now.

DSC06537copy
* Asam Laksa at Petaling Street. I swear it taste better than it looks. Doesn’t look very nice because we split it into half before I took picture. The portion is big and it cost only Rm4 for ‘small’ bowl.

DSC06539copy
* ‘Chu zap tong’, I don’t know what it’s called in English. Mix pork soup thingy, with stuff like pork intestine in it. I super like ‘chu zap tong’ and this one located near Petaling Street taste real good.

DSC06615copy
* Beef noodle at Petaling Street. Yes, I frequent Petaling Street these days to do stuff. This beef noodle is inside a shop at the end of Petaling Street and it’s really expensive. Around Rm6 or Rm7 for small bowl of beef noodle.

DSC06617copy
* Comes with mix beef thingy of course. I still prefer the beef noodle at Pudu, the one opposite of a tayar shop. Will do that when I have the chance to eat it again. (:

DSC06646
* Big fried at Pudu, the one where the chef uses charcoal to cook. Friends told me how nice it is but I just find it okay. No, its nice but I’ve been to one that taste a lot nicer. But that’s so long ago and the shop moved to god-knows-where. That’s the best big fried.

DSC06683copy
* Green curry fettucini at Blank Canyon. My lunch when I work for Magnum, went over to Maluri Jusco for this. Taste pretty good. (:

DSC06704
* Sushi King Rm2 Bonanza, never fail to go each year. :’D And that’s Salmon belly, really really worth it.
But too bad my brother isn’t here, I always went with him. Boo…

DSC06705copy
* Love this the most, raw prawn. I should probably take a picture of how many plates Mah Weng Kee ate, sooo much it scares me, wtf.

Went for Maxis briefing thingy at KLCC for my job yesterday, then meet up with Min Jer. (:
We watched Surrogates but before that we went to The Apartment for a drink.
And dessert.

DSC06708copy
* Some peach and strawberry dessert that has a very funny texture.

DSC06709copy
* Min Jer’s red velvet cake.

After watching movie, we decided to stay for dinner and guess what.
He decided to go back to Apartment for dinner. I guess we look really weird, in and out, in and out. Haha..
No idea what’s nice as I’ve never been to Apartment so he ordered everything. (:

DSC06717copy
* Wanted to eat carbonara but there’s none so he ordered this pasta which I don’t know what its called.

DSC06722copy
* Chicken in the bag, like chinese’s ‘zi bao gai’. Haha..

Walk around after the meal, get to smell my favourite perfume. (:
And I saw a bag that look realllllly nice and it cost Rm8000. wtf!!
But then damn nice, really. Better than all the LV and Gucci, its from Marc Jacobs.
I’ll search for the picture someday when I’m free.

Have fun going out yesterday.
Have fun eating all the nice food.
But not gonna have fun when I start work tomorrow.
And before starting work tomorrow, I will go eat some really nice food to make myself happier. wtf

♥ at Penang (3)

…………..continue again

Took me quite some time to edit and upload all these pictures.
We actually planned to go to the beach early in the morning but we couldn’t make it.
Reason: Too sleepy and tired. Haha..
What’s the first thing you do when you woke up at Penang? EAT!

dsc038401
* We then head over to Kedai Kopi Seng Thor for our last meal at Penang.

dsc03838
* ‘Oh jien’! What’s the name in English?

Since we lazy bumps didn’t woke up in the morning to go to beach, we went there after our meal.

dsc03794copy
* He’s so lazy to walk to the beach, just wanna sit in the hut and chill. @.@

dsc03796copy
* And wanna strangle me some more.

dsc03801copy
* Did you guys notice I didn’t camwhore with her much in the entire trip? Haha..

dsc03805copy
* They walk so fast lorh..

dsc03807copy

dsc03809copy
* Funny picture, Ee is not ready yet.

* Inside Alphard, ready to get back to KL.

dsc03826copy
* Me hugging my bolster, getting ready to sleep. Zzz…

I kind of like sleep the entire trip. I sleep once I’m in the car.
I keep asking the same question.
‘How long we need to get to the next destination?’
Cause if its more than 20 minutes or so, I’ll sleep. Hahaha..
Gosh, I keep sleeping and sleeping.

Forgotten whether I’ve mention this before on my blog, that I always always walk the wrong way.
You know, like when I went out with Ee to places like Pavilion or where ever, I always pick the wrong way.
Which means I’m super bad with directions and none of the times I can guess it correctly. Yet, I always walk infront, like a tour guide or something but forever lead wrongly. @.@
The same happened at Penang, when we’re leaving our room to the lift, I walked the wrong way as well.
Was suppose to turn left but I walk straight.
Then when we’re done and walking back to our room, I walked the wrong way AGAIN!
Bii pulled me straight away, holding my hand like I’m a small kid or something and pulled me to our room. Wth!
What is wrong with me? ~___~ (my stupid emoticon from facebook)

And oh ya, bii slept over at my place before we went to Penang.
So while he’s sleeping, I get ready myself and go online for awhile and found out that MJ is dead.
I woke him up and ask him to get ready and when he opened his eyes, this first thing I said was not good morning.

‘Eh!!! Michael Jackson die already!!’
*Looking at me, with a super blur and stone face*
‘Really one!! Michael Jackson REALLY die already!!’
*Show me even stone-er face*
HAHAHAHAHAHA! Why I so like that? Lol.

I totally enjoy this Penang trip, how I wish we could stay there longer.
I miss Penang trip and also Langkawi trip with my lovely friends. Miss miss miss!
We really did had a great one. Hope there’s more to come. (:
*fond memories* ♥

We are already like so full but I really want to go to The Ship. :3
