Marina Bay Sands Hotel at Singapore

Where: Marina Bay Sands
What: Hotel

During my four days at Singapore, I stayed three days at Marina Bay Sands.
Main reason for my Singapore trip was to go for Zouk Out, so it was crucial for me to pick a hotel that isn’t too far from the designated area which was Sentosa.

I am glad I did pick Marina Bay Sands for my stay as Marina indeed gives a very good feeling as you walk around.
Everything around looks spectacular and the high ceilings created a spacious feeling which I really like.

Marina Bay Sands is one of the most recognizable building in Singapore, so it’s only normal for me to try it once (probably) in my entire lifetime.

#1 Marina Bay Sands lobby that is constantly full with people starting noon time.

#2 Take the escalator down on your left and you’ll enter the The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands. There are trees planted in giant glazed stoneware along the way and it’s called Rising Forest.

#3 The mall was really spacious with high ceilings(again) turning the place into a comfortable mall to walk around. There were branded stores all around and in the middle of the mall we saw water came gushing down from a hole with sampans rowing by. It is Ned Kahn’s Rain Oculus which releases a swirling vortex from the hole in the middle.

I don’t know, why would anyone want to pay $10 just to sit in a sampan inside the mall?
It’s just plain weird to me.

#4 View from Marina Bay sands.

#5 Which I must say, is really quite amazing especially the view on Gardens By The Bay.

#6 Our premier room on the 27th floor.

#7 Room was normal and standard, nothing to rave about.

#8 Bathroom on the other hand is really spacious and organized. A bathtub sits right on the left once you enter the bathroom. Extra points will always be given by me whenever there’s a bathtub involve.

#9 While on the right is a standing shower separated with a toilet cubicle.

#10 That’s the bathroom’s sliding door behind and there’s no lock for it.

#11 A full length mirror right outside the bathroom’s sliding door.

#12 Changed into bathrobe ready for a swim but Fatty was still lazing around, cant be bothered.

#13 We then headed up to Marina’s 57th floor after much bugging from me. Sands SkyPark Pool is world’s largest and highest outdoor infinity pool, positioned 200 meters in the air and 150 meters long.

#14 This is really a stunning infinity pool but one down side is to it is that the amount of people in and around the pool gives you no privacy. People are just everywhere.

#15 Dennis with his thumbs up. Also, only hotel guests will get to enjoy the infinity pool so you really need to stay there to experience swimming in this amazing pool.

#16 By the time we got up to SkyPark Pool, it was really windy. I was hoping for some heat from the sun but…

#17 Sky was turning dark and clouds were forming, Dennis was shivering from second to second.

#19 Went up to Marina’s SkyPark Pool again on the second day, only this time it was at night. All the lights from buildings made the view even more beautiful than it already is.

#20 The pool was so cold I went for jacuzzi instead and this is the view right from where I was sitting (in the jacuzzi).

(Judging from my pictures quality, it is time for me to get an iphone5. PFFT)

#21 Kisses for the boyfriend. :)

Don’t think anyone will deny that Marina Bay Sands infinity pool is really breathtaking and I absolutely enjoyed and love my time swimming up there.
The infinity pool was also another main reason as to why I picked Sands because I feel like I need to experience it at least once in my lifetime and if not now, then when?

Here’s something else from Marina which is worth checking out.

#22 Wonder Full which is Southeast Asia largest light and water show is shown every night on the Promenade for approximately 13 minutes. The show was really beautiful but we got there late and I only get to watch the final 1 minute. :(

#23 It is a free show, so be sure to catch a glimpse while you’re there.

#24 Look at the amount of people enjoying the spectacular show.

Show time is 8pm and 9.30pm for Sunday to Thursday and 8pm, 9.30pm and 11pm for Friday and Saturday.

There is wifi at the entire Marina, from The Shoppes to hotel to casino.
Once you’re connected, you’re free to use it around the whole area.
Casino is right smacked in The Shoppes and feel free to go in with slippers, short pants, and t-shirt as they do not have any dress code.
We went to the casino on Saturday and the boys played a few rounds. If I checked it correctly, minimum bet is $25 per game so be sure to prepare your money.

What I like about Marina Bay Sands is of course their infinity pool, but besides that I also like how they have so many activities around Marina Bay Hotel. I like how they created little details to represent water around Marina, I like how convenient it is to take the MRT as the station is just right inside Marina and I quite like the extravagant feeling it created.

What I didn’t like about Marina on the other hand was the amount of people moving around as I’ve always prefer a quieter hotel than a busy hotel.
Didn’t like seeing so many people around the lobby area, didn’t like seeing so many people dipping themselves into the pool at the same time, didn’t like seeing people queuing up for breakfast and didn’t really like the room’s sleeping area too.
If you know me, I don’t quite fancy big hotels room but all in all it was a very good stay.

Will I be back again?
Maybe not or just not in the near future as I too do not like to repeat hotels.
Just like how I dislike repeating my clothes and restaurants (LOL) unless they caught my heart but unlikely so when it comes to hotel.
I am greedy like that and hotel wise, I prefer ‘one night stand’ kind of relationship.

Premier room at Marina Bay Sands for the month of December is around $430 per night exclusive of tax and service charges.

Take note:
* There are 3 towers in Marina and check in/out area is right at Tower 1.
* Purchase a $6 (single entry) or a $12 (multiple entry) parking ticket while you exit outside the lobby if you stay at Marina to avoid paying expensive parking ticket.
* If you visit Singapore by plane, do request for a complimentary shuttle bus to pick you up at the airport to Marina Bay Sands Hotel.
* Free entry to Sands SkyPark Infinity Pool and Banyan Tree Fitness Club.
* MRT station – Bayfront MRT Station.
