2nd Anniversary Dinner at Dragon-i

It was a date so simple but it brought so many smiles to my face. :)

I almost wanted to pick ‘Dining in The Dark’ as the venue for our 2nd anniversary when I found out that it has opened its arms at Changkat KL but Fatty suggested otherwise.
Fatty suggested Dragon-i and it was a tough choice to choose between both.

I thought I’ll have to wait for another few years, to fly back over to Bangkok (if you’d like to find out Bkk’s DITD) and finally try ‘Dine In The Dark’ but of all sudden we now have it here in KL. How nice. :)
When I found out the concept of such restaurant in Bangkok, I was mad excited but none of my friends were. :(
Thank God I do not have to wait for another few years now.

Choice between two was finally made and I put ‘Dining In The Dark’ in my waiting list in the end because after knowing the menu (which I shouldn’t cause I weren’t suppose to know the menu to enhance the experience) I made a conclusion that I should wait for the menu to evolve to something less basic, to something more exciting. Maybe in another 2 months, I hope.

And if you thought Dragon-i was an even weirder choice, it wasn’t because Fatty never picks the wrong restaurant. :)

20121220-021516
#1 I wanted to look sweet that night so I put on a pastel pink tutu. :)

Fatty insisted that we go for Dragon-i because he wanted me to try Hairy crab or 大閘蟹 (dai zap hai) as we Chinese call it.
He often had it in Hong Kong and he said it was so good he needed me to try it.
So, why not?

20121220-021434.jpg
#2 The utensils for our Hairy Crab.

There are probably a few more Chinese restaurants that sell Hairy Crab but we didn’t look into it.
Hairy Crab season is ending VERY soon so if you’d like to try, you can try googling for other Chinese restaurants if Dragon-i doesn’t suit your liking.

Dragon-i offers two different Hairy Crab menu price at Rm138+ and RM198+ or you can just purchase the Hairy Crab alone (buy 3 get 1 free at Rm198+).
We both went for the RM138 menu and if you prefer to have your Hairy Crab on weekends, it is charged at RM168+ for the same menu.
Take note: Minimum order is 2 pax.

20121220-021423.jpg
#3 Steamed Shanghainese Crab Roe Dumpling, 2 for each of us. This is Xiu Long Bao with crab roe and it tasted so much better than the normal Xiu Long Bao. Besides the Hairy Crab, this dumpling is what I like most from the menu.

20121220-021359.jpg
#4 Broth was so flavorful and sweet.

20121220-021348.jpg
#5 Sauteed Fresh Vegetables with Hairy Crab Roe which I didn’t quite like just because I dislike that particular vegetable. Gravy with crab roe was good and we kept it for the fried rice.

20121220-021337.jpg
#6 Fried Rice with Shredded Crab Meat and Egg White. Fried rice wasn’t as good as Rasa Sayang’s (cause Rasa Sayang has the best fried rice) but when mixed with the crab roe gravy, it was quite divine.

20121220-021309.jpg
#7 Chicken Soup with Fish Maw that I happened to quite like. I really quite love drinking double boiled soup but I also wish that this chicken soup can be slightly thicker.

I was about 75% full when our Hairy Crab was out which is a bad sign.
It takes about 25 minutes for them to steam the Hairy Crabs and if you don’t mind waiting, I suggest you eat the dumpling and wait for the crabs.
Only when you’re done with your crabs, you get the waiter to serve you the remaining of the menu.

20121220-021258.jpg
#8 We can either cut the crab ourselves or let the waiter do it and we let her do the job. I was too lazy. She opened the shell, cut off the legs and pushed out the meat.

It was a very good decision to let her do it. I am always lazy when it comes eating crabs.

20121220-021247.jpg
#9 The Hairy Crab was placed back into place and notice the hairy claws.

20121220-021226.jpg
#10 Vinegar for the crab which in my opinion is much needed.

20121220-021236.jpg
#11 Best crab shell I’ve ever eaten in my life so far.

20121220-021216.jpg
#12 Look at that crab roe! It was very different from normal crab’s roe. The roe was so thick and creamy, it sticks on my throat. The meat was very fresh and sweet too. As to why I said the vinegar is much needed is because you need to balance the taste.

Now I understand why Fatty insisted that I must try Hairy Crab.
It was so different, it tasted so good and I wish that I weren’t that full. I gave half of my crab to Fatty, lucky him.
As I type, the taste keep coming back to me and I so want to have a Hairy Crab right now.

The bill came up to RM360 inclusive of tax and service charge.
Do call and make sure that Hairy Crabs are still available at the outlet you wish to go.
We went to Pavilion’s Dragon-i and they only left with 11 Hairy Crabs that day.
It’s gonna be too late very soon, so hurry up if you’d like to try. :)

20121220-021548.jpg
#13 Thank you for making sure that I try out some of the world’s best delicacy.

20121220-021559.jpg
#14 And thank you for always looking so stupid in my pictures. :P

We’ve decided that for every anniversary meal, we must pick a cuisine different from the past.
Last year was Italian food and this year was Chinese cuisine. Maybe we’ll do German food next. :)

Singapore : Sixth Stop – The White Rabbit at Dempsey Hill and Hai Bin Prawning.

Where: The White Rabbit @ Dempsey Hill
What: European Food

Our dinners at Singapore surprisingly turned out to be not as good as our lunch.
We had two dinners at food courts and both the food courts were a random pick.
I knew that I didn’t have such luck when it comes to random picking, it almost always turn out to be a blah.

Seeing that it was our last night at Singapore, we decided to splurge on our last dinner.
Dempsey Hill was in our list but which restaurant to go for at Dempsey Hill was the question.
There were so many restaurants that we wanted to try but time and money didn’t allow.

So final choice was The White Rabbit.
Before I go on with The White Rabbit, you really must put Dempsey Hill in your itinerary if you visit Singapore.
Dempsey Hill is a dining precinct that offers fine dine and fine wine, set in a quiet surrounding surrounded by trees and bushes.
It used to be the site of British army barracks during the colonial time but today it transformed itself into a relaxing place where friends and families gather for good food.

The White Rabbit used to be a chapel for probably about 40 years more or less and later on was abandoned for another 15 years before The Lo and Behold Group bought the chapel and transformed it into a restaurant.
Below are a few pictures of The White Rabbit from the internet before I show you guys my cant-make-it-pictures.

#1 Leads you to The Rabbit Hole bar.

You should know by now, the theme was base on Alice In The Wonderland.

#2 The Rabbit Hole Bar.

#3 Inside the chapel whereby it provides us a uniquely dining experience that is unpretentious and casual.

#4 I need to get myself an Iphone 5. Or if you wish you can make a donation, I will message you my bank details.

#5 How it looks like during night time.

#6 Hahahah, fuck the quality. Looks equally ugly with flash or without. Chips and Saffron Aioli for $8.

But I have to post it anyway, so you bear with it until I get my Iphone 5.
BUT THEN AGAIN, I’ve been wanting an Iphone since Iphone 3gs, then Iphone 4, then Iphone 4s and now Iphone 5 and I still have none.
I probably need to wait until the tenth generation wtf.

#7 We ordered two starters; Wagyu Carpaccio with shaved parmesan, celery cress, balsamic pearls and truffle cream for $26 and Foir Gras Duet. Foie Gras Duet, price at $29 is served in two different ways. One is salt cured with apple flan and another is seared lobe with cherry compote.

We were advised by the waiter to eat the salt cured foie gras with apple flan first before moving on to the pan seared foie gras. Both was heaven.
The boys preferred pan seared foie gras but I enjoyed both equally.

It was Dennis first try at foie gras and it was so good he is now looking everywhere for it in Sabah.

#8 Beef Cheek Bourguignon with roasted root vegetables, mousseline potatoes and crispy bacon for $48.

What captured my heart from The White Rabbit was the host because he took his time to explain all the dishes we were interested at and gave us good suggestion.
He really know the food from menu well and he made sure we enjoy our food.
He suggested that we order Beef Cheek Bourguignon because apparently girls love this dish which is full with collagen or some sort.
The beef cheek was tender and aromatic, plus really fulfilling too.

#9 Grilled Atlantic Cod with fava beans and sauce vierge at $38 was ordered by Dennis. He is quite a fishy-person.
The Atlantic cod was fresh but I personally do not fancy eating fish during fine dining. Just my preference.

Fine dining in a chapel was indeed a good and unexpected experience. I wasn’t even aware that it was a chapel, not until the host explained about the history to us.
I believe it will give a total different experience all together if you’re there for lunch instead of dinner.
Price is a little steep for us Malaysians but just don’t convert since you’re on a holiday.
It was my first time not converting too (usually I am the one who is always converting from minute to minute) and it feels great to not think about how expensive things really were.

Where: Bishan Hai Bin Prawning
What: Prawning

We didn’t really want to head back to our hotel after our meal and Fatty suggested PRAWNING! :D
I couldn’t agree more.
We both tried searching high and low for prawning ponds here in KL but it was a miserable search.

#10 Bishan Hai Bin Prawning is open for 24 hours (how nice!) a day. One hour of prawning is $18 (don’t convert!) and if you ask for 2 hours you will get another hour free.

#11 Prawn’s bait, chicken liver. Thank God there isn’t any worms involve.

#12 While we wait and wait…

It isn’t easy at all to prawn but some uncles made it look so easy. We believe there are certain ways to hook the chicken liver and we obviously do not know which is the right way.
Also I heard that prawns do gather at a few spots, so make sure you’re at the right spot.
Just sit next to those uncles, it’ll do the trick.

#13 Dennis caught one and only one in that one hour. Haha, so much for that 18 bucks.

#14 Prawn size was decent and I caught two.

#15 You’ll need to pay attention to your mini float which is floating above the water and when it is drag into the water, it means it is time for you to pull the bait. You can’t pull too hard either or the prawn will sometimes escape. After the prawn is out of the water, you need to unhook the bait from it’s mouth which is quite disturbing because the prawn keeps jumping. There’s a net in the water and you’ll need to throw the prawn into the net after unhooking it.

#16 After your time is up, feel free to barbecue your prawns. Sticks are provided and you need to pierce through the prawn while they’re still alive. Very cruel. :(

#17 The next step after piercing is to wash the prawns and rub it with salt. Final step is to barbecue it alive and watch them die wtf.

It didn’t occur to me that I will actually barbecue all the prawns alive while I was happily prawning.
Of course I do know that I will barbecue them, but just not alive.
Actually I thought they’ll be dead once I caught them but that isn’t the case.
The prawns were indeed very very fresh and juicy but I just don’t think this is the right way to do it.

Next time I’ll just let it die out of the water instead of letting them live for that 20 minutes more and later on pierce and barbecue them alive. :(
Please make sure to just let them die if you’re prawning instead of throwing them back into the net in the water.

And oh, you can actually ask for more prawns from them to barbecue if you only get to caught a few like us. ;)

Singapore : Fifth Stop – Orchard Road.

Where: Orchard Road
What: Shopping Mall

The only place that I can truly remember about Singapore besides Sentosa is Orchard Road.
I remember how I once walked along Orchard Road which was filled with fairy lights and christmas decoration, bringing the entire christmas spirit alive.

Christmas decoration at Orchard Road is one of the many things which I really look forward to during my trip to Singapore.
We headed down to Orchard Road on Sunday morning and I must say I was a little disappointed.
Perhaps it was day time or perhaps the decoration this year weren’t as extravagant.
Fatty tried driving into Orchard Road at night just to let me see the christmas decoration but those lights weren’t even on. :(
Maybe it’s a go green thing. :(

#1 Ion Orchard, one of the shopping mall at Orchard Road.

#2 Playing with shapes and curves.

Our first stop at Orchard Road was at Shaw House because I wanted to get my Mos Burger fix!
I’ve heard from Singaporeans that Mos Burger tastes really good and I missed my chance to try it once when I was at Bangkok.
Almost became my regret of the year!
In addition to that, having Fatty told me how delicious it was when he ate it at Japan just made me crave for it even more.
So I kept telling Fatty that I have to eat my Mos Burger no matter how.

#3 Mos Burger is a japanese fast food chain offering terriyaki burger, yakiniku burger and even rice burgers.

#4 Fatty ordered Mos Wagyu Cheeseburger for $6.10 and the burger tasted so frigging good! The wagyu beef was so tender and juicy I almost wanted to snatch his burger and gobble it down.

#5 I ordered Yakiniku Rice Burger ($3.80) which was good too but I do prefer normal burger than rice burger. Burger is burger, rice burger is burger trying to be funny.

Mos Burger’s portion is a little small so if you’re a big eater, you definitely need two to fill you up.
Price wise, it isn’t cheap for a burger with that size but then again you cant go wrong with wagyu beef.
I swear Mos Burger’s Wagyu Cheeseburger is so much better than Mc Donald’s beef burger.

We took a walk after our sinful burger from Shaw House to Takashimaya, the only shopping mall I remember because of it’s Japanese name.

#6 Saw this cute grandpa performing giddily and I stood there for a while to watch while the two boys ignored me. Really very cute grandpa but poor him, doing stunts on a Sunday. Shouldn’t he be resting at home? :(

#7 Upon entering Takashimaya, the first thing that caught my attention was the queue outside Chanel. People do really queue up for Chanel, am I the only one who is so surprise?

#8 While I queue up for yakitori wtf. /plays sad music

#9 But this yakitori from Tori Q is seriously damn good, Fatty brought me here. :D

#10 Each stick is price at $1.10 or above and if you buy ten sticks, you’ll get one free. They have chicken, pork, chicken skin, pork with asparagus, chicken balls and many more.

#11 Fatty bought ten sticks for about $15. I dare say this is the best yakitori I’ve ever tried and it tasted so much better compared to Japanese restaurant even. The sauce was good and I especially love the burnt crisp on each piece of meat.

#12 Didn’t get to stay at Orchard Road for long as Dennis was tired because he was still having slight fever, so we took a complimentary shutter bus back to Studio M.

Fatty and I went back to Orchard Road again the next day after Dennis left for his flight back to Sabah to walk around for a bit.

#13 Super long escalator at Orchard Central which directly take you up from the first floor to the third.

#14 I had fun taking the escalator and I had even more fun disturbing Fatty cause he was afraid of the height, haha. He forced me to stay away from him!

#15 Hahahahah, look at his stupid face!

#16 Damn annoyed by me can.

#17 Went up to fourth floor for The Editor’s Market which I’ve been paying attention for quite some while.

#18 They source their street fashion clothing from around the globe and although their prices are not cheap, you can still buy it for a cheaper price if you buy it in bulk.

#19 Love their store interior design.

#20 Last stop was at Tanuki, a newly opened Japanese restaurant which was a random choice because I was mad craving for Japanese food.

#21 Tanuki did not put out any signage, probably still new but it was really quite difficult to locate.

#22 Fatty ordered Tanuki Balls, truffled beef carpaccio draped over deep fried cheese potato balls for $12.

#23 While I ordered Salmon Don, the ultimate salmon rice bowl with sashimi, salmon belly, aburi, and ikura for $20.

First off, it was such a waste to combine beef carpaccio with cheese potato balls as the taste doesn’t blends at all. I’d say it didn’t worth the $12 that we paid.
As for Salmon Don, the amount of salmon given was generous and the cut was thick.
However, service at Tanuki was rather bad seeing that we were the only customers at that moment.
I needed to remind them that I do not have any cutlery for my Salmon Don and it took them quite some while to get it for me.

Fatty thinks that I am demanding but I think that it is my right as a customer to demand.
I mean, I didn’t ask for the waiter to lap dance on me or something but isn’t it the most basic service to get ready your customer’s cutlery once they order?

You can do that if I’m at a hawker stall but not when I pay a frigging RM50 for my bowl of Salmon Don.
MUST GIVE ME MY CUTLERY RIGHT AWAY! PFFT!

Oklah I forgive the waiter because he looks like he just finished his secondary school and this is his first job but after telling a higher ranking waitress, I still have to remind for a second time.
I GIVE YOU ONE CHANCE ALREADY, WHY YOU LIKE THAT!?

I get very agitated at bad services. I don’t mind mistakes because mistakes and bad services are different.
Don’t you agree?

So unless you hear better reviews about Tanuki from the near future, you might want to reconsider.
Tons of other Japanese restaurants nearby anyway.

Singapore: Second, Third & Fourth Stop – Tiong Bahru, Haji Lane and Bugis.

Delicious food, aromatic coffee, unique interior, hipster area, friendly people – I’ll be there.
These are the kind of places whereby I really look forward to whenever I travel with Fatty, instead of the usual tourism spot.

Where: Tiong Bahru Bakery
What: Pastries and Coffee

So I heard that Tiong Bahru Bakery has got the best croissant in Singapore and yours truly here is a very croissant kind of person.
I love eating a good croissant.
I too heard that Tiong Bahru is one of Singapore’s hipster area as there are more and more unique cafes opening up in this rather old area.
I’d say, old is definitely the new black.

#1 Don’t let their name fool you.

#2 I thought it was a grab and go concept and I was shocked when I saw all the seats filled up with people. And so I thought to myself, this must be good.

#3 They sell croissants, danish, tarts, and even hamburgers.

#4 They too have brownies and cakes, you will be spoil by choices.

#5 A guide for you if you do not know how to differentiate coffees.

#6 Spot the tote bag? I WANT! I also like their wooden door that swings both way.

I bought a croissant ($3.20) and a raisin danish ($3.50) for me and fatty to share.
I’d love to try out their coffee too in the future if I ever goes back.
Both the croissant and danish were pretty decent but only if I can eat it while it’s hot, it’ll be even better.
Fatty who loves croissant as much as I do thinks that Tiong Bahru Bakery’s croissant tasted normal kind of good.
Then he started telling me how AWESOME this croissant he had in Hong Kong was whereby he queue for an hour just to buy it.

OKAY! Don’t be so cocky next time I fly to Hong Kong just for croissant!

Where: Open Door Policy (ODP)
What: Modern Bistro

For lunch, we headed to ODP as knows as Open Door Policy which is just few streets away from Tiong Bahru Bakery.

#7 Is this the most creative name or the most random name?

#8

#9 I absolutely love their interior and it was full too when we were there. /Jackpot

#10 These steel ceilings used by ODP reminded me of Acme’s.

#11 We sat by the open kitchen which I do not have a single problem with. I love seeing chefs do their thing.

#12 Latte, $5.50.

#13 Wild mushroom risotto with truffle crumbs, $22. Mushroom risotto was great as it tasted slightly different from the normal ones I ate and the white mushroom you saw on top of that risotto, it is actually raw.

#14 Green gazpacho with scallop ceviche and fresh coriander, $16. I haven’t tasted anything quite like this before, it was a cold soup. Every mouth I took is full with surprise and the scallops aren’t cook which is the way it’s meant to be. It doesn’t taste awful at all, it just tasted different. I cant take in a big amount as my tummy started acting weird but this soup taste nothing like bad.

#15 Smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on toasted ciabatta with spinach and fresh herbs, $21. Love this dish, portion was big and the amount of smoked salmon they gave was generous. Scrambled eggs were soft and the best part was that the ciabatta wasn’t hard and chewy.

#16 The three of us.

#17 Why cant they just give me a decent look?

Walked around Tiong Bahru’s neighbourhood to check out more cafes and shops.

#18 There he go again, appearing in my picture nonchalantly.

#19 Social Haus, a cafe I’d like to try out someday in the future too.

#20 Books Actually that obviously sells books.

#21 Books Actually is not your ordinary book store as the books they sell is a lot more different from all the mainstream books. Just go and have a look if you’re a book lover and happens to be around Tiong Bahru.

#22

Where: Haji Lane
What: Boutiques

Told you my days at Singapore was jam packed, we went from one stop to another.
Haji Lane was next and this is the place Fatty suggested that we go have a look at.

#23

#24 Fatty and mini me at Haji Lane.

#25 Haji Lane is somewhat like our Bangsar Telawi conquered by boutiques but I adore Haji Lane’s building more.
Love the windows on the upper level.

#26 Displays were a lot nice compared to Bangsar’s too, very creative and put together.

#27 Love the plants! Now you get what I meant?

#28

#29 Don’t spoil market lah you.

#30 Must kacau and try on glasses.

#31 And I must take picture of self.

#32 Just a candid of me and Dennis while we rest outside a bar that was closed.

Where: Bugis Street
What: Affordable shopping

Bugis Street is the only shopping place for me at Singapore because everything sold there is so much cheaper compared to malls.
The area was big enough for me to shop and what was on their display rack was a lot more similiar to what I saw at Bangkok or Sungai Wang.
The prices were hiked up quite a lot since I know how incredibly cheap it is to get the stocks from Bangkok which made me reluctant to shop anymore.

My legs were really sore too so we made it a quick one and I managed to buy 2 pair of shorts.
At least I bought something, so mission accomplished.

#33 Fatty bought something too, a pair of sunnies for his rave. But no, not this pair.

#34 This is one of the cutest sunglasses I’ve came across and I hesitated for awhile if I should bring it home. $15, not wise.

Where: Maison Ikkoku
What: Cafe, Boutique and Bar

Last stop for the day before Zouk Out Day 2 was Maison Ikkoku.
There’s three floors altogether and the first floor is a cafe, second is a boutique, while the highest floor rest their bar.

#35 Felt like I walked into an entirely different country, with mosque right in front of me and coconut trees along the way. A very nice place to just sit and relax.

#36 From the name of it, I was hoping to have our dinner there expecting some Japanese or Fusion food but all I got in the menu was all day breakfast.

Cant do breakfast after our meal at ODP so we just sat and have coffee instead since coffee is their main specialty anyway.

#37 My pictures don’t do this place any justice.

#38 Dennis’ tea as he’s not quite a coffee person.

#39 Our Vanilla Latte which I absolutely love.

We wanted to check out Maison Ikkoku’s bar too but it was closed. :(
It’ll be really nice to sit on the top floor overlooking the mosque and people passing by.

Singapore : First Stop – Cocotte.

Where: Cocotte @ Wanderlust Hotel
What: French Cusinie

It was more than ten years ago when I last step foot on Singapore.
Although it was more than a decade but my memories are still vivid.
There was a period where I really had lots of fun and laughters at Singapore with my family and there was also a period whereby flying over to Singapore broke my heart.

When I was 11 I flew over to Singapore with my brother, just the two of us to check out on our dad who was then receiving medical help for his sickness.
Maybe this was the reason as to why flying to Singapore no longer excites me. Singapore suddenly sounds so ……… unhappy after all those things I went through there.
And another reason is of course, THE CURRENCY.

I’d rather fly to Thailand but this time I’m glad that I finally get to visit Singapore all over again despite the currency that makes me cringe.
I was at Singapore for four days and boy I must say, that was definitely a very jam-packed-tiring-trip.

#1 We were suppose to leave at 7.30 in the morning but everything got delayed to two hours late and it took us about 3 and a half hours to reach Singapore. We didn’t really want to speed knowing that there’s a lot of speed trap camera along the highway. Better safe than sorry.

#2 Drive till sot sot dei jor.

The first thing we did upon reaching Singapore was to go for lunch at Cocotte which was located inside Wanderlust Hotel.

#3 There’s this very annoying fact about my boyfriend is that he always tends to accidentally appear in my pictures. His head, his arm, his feet, his finger, or even his hair. Try to spot him in my Singapore pictures and see who got the most ‘Fatty’.

Prize: A full length picture of my Fatty.

#4 A very comfortable setting with warm and rustic interior.

#5

#6

#7 Colourful kettles on top of the wine fridge.

#8 The window that we sat by let the amount of right sunlight in and I also fancy their table setting.

#9 My partner :)

#10 Maybe I was trying to look like a mouse seeing that I was wearing a Mickey Mouse pullover.

Fatty tried to read the comic strip and it said ‘Been trying to phone, your line has been busy’.
What kind of a lame comic is that?

We ordered a lunch set for $35 which comes with a soup, main, dessert, and coffee or tea in addition to another ala-carte to share.

#11 Mushroom soup with truffle oil which surprisingly tasted so so good, it might just have been the best mushroom I’ve tasted by far. It could be the truffle oil but whatever it was, this is one damn good mushroom soup.

#12 Gratin of Roasted Butternut Squash, Sage, and Gnocchi Parisenne – $20. This is a very cheesy and full filling ala-carte and as you can tell by the size (HAHA), Fatty loves this dish. It was a little too cheesy for me but the butternut was tasted quite good.

#13 Roasted Sea Bream and Persillade. I much preferred Roasted Sea Bream than Roasted Butternut Squash on that day. The fish was fresh, the simple taste was just nice with a tinge of lemon.

#14 Fatty trying to create an-obviously-fail-coffee-art.

#15 Dessert served was Chocolate Tart which I surprisingly quite like. I am never a chocolate person and so is Fatty but we almost finished off the whole tart if it weren’t for our-full-to-the-brim-tummy. Very chocolaty with very little sweetness in it, just the way I like it.

Nothing innovative about their french menu like Nathalie’s but nonetheless it was a good meal.
I have to repeat, I especially like their mushroom soup!
Inclusive of tax, our first lunch came up to about $65+. I don’t even want to convert and find out how much(Ringgits) I’ve spent on that lunch alone.
Go for their set lunch which I think is really worth it but do take note Cocotte’s set lunch is only available on weekday from 12pm to 2.30 pm.

Uncle Jang Korean Restaurant at Puchong

Uncle Jang is something that I’ve got no idea what it is (except that it is Korean cuisine) but I was dying to try it.
I wanted to find out what the hoohaa was about but my urge to try was strengthen when Fatty told me that it was quite good after eating it with his family.

#1 So Uncle Jang it was at Puchong’s outlet.

#2 A really simple setting.

#3 Must take picture of myself before being attacked by the oil from food.

#4 My fatty so adorable! :D

#5 Complimentary water.

#6 Some dessert that came along with the set whereby the waiter named it as ‘ice-cream’ and fatty said it tasted like kimchi or tomyum or something.

Me being me, die die also don’t want to try!

#7 Sides and fresh vegetables. I really like Uncle Jang’s kimchi and it kinda got me hooked, I crave for kimchi for weeks.

#8 Minimum order is two portion which is RM19 per pax for non spicy and RM22 per pax for spicy. We ordered non spicy cause my fatty said non spicy is spicy enough but not that true in my case.

#9 Dak-Galbi.

#10 We added ramen and you can add in other sides like cheese and mushroom but mind you, it’s not cheap. One side is around RM6 to RM8.

#11 It was quite a good meal especially eating it during rainy days. Was the meal worth the price we paid, I’m not too sure. We basically paid about Rm50 for chicken, cabbage, rice cake and ramen.

Uncle Jang is nice to have once in a while with a group of friends and I’d like to do it again in the future, adding in cheese and mushroom.
But be prepared to leave the restaurant smelling like you’ve just got barbecued.

The best Korean meal I had was at Hwaro, Melbourne.
It was so sooooooooo good, nothing I tried come close.
