Room Tour

I just had one of the most productive weekend in a long time.
There were a lot of house work involved seeing that I am now maid free and mom is on a holiday. Our maid just left 2 weeks ago and somehow the stress that was suppose to come with it didn’t really came knocking.

I took the initiative to declutter my room on a Saturday morning and I threw out two medium size boxes of junks. I could’ve throw out more but I couldn’t entirely get rid of the hoarder in me. With all that said, I am still pretty proud of myself that I manage to get so much done. I woke up at 7.45am without the help of my alarm, did a 15 minutes work out and started decluttering for an entire two hours. I then swept and mopped the floor, washed my clothing and dirty cloths from cafe (with hand!) and cooked lunch. I felt amazing because honestly I detest house work and almost all my life I do have maid at home, so it kinda breeds my laziness. It is not the fact that doing house work makes me feel amazing, it is more like the discipline in me is kicking off.

After all is done I rewarded myself with coffee break and then proceeded to buy some plants because my brain kept bugging me to while I was cleaning. About a year ago I bought two plants from Ikea and I didn’t have the heart to keep it alive so one of the two is now dead. This time round I want to make sure that all my plants will thrive and I will be a responsible adult haha. Plant is that one living thing which involves the lowest time investment and if I cant even make sure they stay alive (by giving them sufficient water and sunlight) I need to reflect on how well I deal with responsibilities.

What I bought yesterday wasn’t enough so I went out to get more plants today. I later on portioned some of my time to put my room together. At long last for once, my room makes me feel belong and happy, just the way I want it to be. Like I am genuinely happy seeing these plants and how they make my room feel so alive. Without further ado, let me bring bring you to a virtual tour and present you a huge glimpse of my small room.

This is my fancy corner where I display all of my perfumes, most of my accessories and a teapot for when I want to wind down on a weekend doing some self care routine.

Have yet to kick start my self care routine because I tend to get so lazy that even making tea for myself is too much of a hassle. But that is all about to change. Sorted my personal space out this week and I can start my weekly self care routine starting next week which I am pretty darn excited about. Let’s see how it goes and maybe I can blog about it some other time.

My knick knacks.

My tassel earrings that doubled as a deco.

25’s A Man

That boy man half boy half man who’s younger than me by half a year is finally 25.
By right you turn adult when you’re 21 but 21 to me is when you start being reckless and enjoy life to the fullest.
25 to me is when you start taking things more seriously, start planning for a future and to really start being a true adult.
But of course this might not apply to everyone. No big gatherings with friends or whatsoever for Fatty this year because he didn’t want to. (Not sire if he really didn’t want to or he said he didn’t want to just so I could give him a surprise like every other year.)

We initially decided on Cilantro for his birthday dinner but it was fully booked on a Saturday night so Lafite it was.
I was actually really looking forward to try Cilantro, guess I’ll have to continue waiting. Lunch seems like a good idea! :B

COCOPPA : How to edit Iphone icons without jailbreaking.

So if you haven’t already know, I ditched my Samsung smartphone half a year ago for my brother’s 3gs.
Although I did not own an Iphone before this but I know how to navigate it really well because I’ve been playing with Fatty’s Iphone since years ago.

You can really imagine how happy I was when I finally get to own an Iphone but truth be told although I hate my Samsung, I cant deny that I love how customizable it was.
I love to customize things that belong to me because I love to be different. /aherm
I also love how it gave me a very ‘me feeling’ cause I get to customize it to the way I exactly wanted.
For instance my blog skin, I will never leave it as it is. I will play around with the html and whatsoever, changing colours and whatever that irritates my eyes.
Which is also why I don’t change my blog skin very often, too much hassle.

#1 How my phone looks like right now. (Don’t know why my hand so meaty!)

I really couldn’t be bothered when I first got hold of my Iphone, to play around with Cydia and changing the way my Iphone looks.
I still wouldn’t be bothered if shit did not happen to my phone.
If it weren’t for the apps that I wanted to download which require IOS 5, I will not upgrade my phone because I hate changes. And I am lazy, obviously.

As what I expected (though I pray that it will not) my Iphone crashed and kind of died for a little while.
My laptop was at it’s worst too and somehow failed to back up everything from my phone!
I sat for hours googling and figuring how to fix my dead Iphone and once I had it fixed, it went to default!
DEFAULT OMG!

Thank God I took pictures with my boyfriend’s and bff’s phone and they could resent it to me or else I will be mad piss!
Since my phone was in a default mode, I tried changing whatever I could to make it look pretty and I stumble upon this app that can change our app’s icon without jailbreaking our phone.

20130619-152754.jpg
#2 Enough of my grandmother story, here is a better view of my home screen. Look at my Google Maps!! :D

20130619-134645.jpg
#3 My second page which mainly stores my photo editing apps.

I love how creative people turn their photographs into an amazing piece of art just by editing through Iphone apps.
I am now learning. :)

20130619-134711.jpg
#4 The first thing you have to do is to download this app called ‘COCOPPA’ in your app store which is absolutely free.

After downloading, register yourself an account and you’re good to go.

20130619-134719.jpg
#5 There are ample of icons for you to choose from and if you’re a perfectionist, this will take up a lot of your time.

20130619-134726.jpg
#6 Click on app icons that you are fond of and ‘like’ the icon so that it will be store in your profile for easy searching. I do think this is a crucial step because you might not stumble upon the app you browse earlier on.

If you decided that you want to use said icon, click on ‘set up link’.
Here’s an example on how to set up Whatsapp.

20130619-134735.jpg
#7 Once you click on ‘set up link’ you will have to click on ‘app search’ to search for the app you intend to change icon. In my case, I search for Whatsapp.

20130619-134741.jpg
#8 You can scroll for popular apps and for the not so popular apps, you can search for it at the search bar.

20130619-134751.jpg
#9 Once I click on Whatsapp on app search, this is the image that appeared on my screen. Set your icon name, add gloss if you want and press ‘OK’.

20130619-134758.jpg
#10 Click ‘yes’.

20130619-134804.jpg
#11 A Safari page will come up and you will have to press the arrow button at the bottom.

20130619-134811.jpg
#12 An image will come up, scroll to your right or second page and click ‘Add to home screen’.

20130619-134819.jpg
#13 Set the name for your icon, click ‘Add’ and tadaa!

Sounds confusing at first but once you get the hang of it, it’s pretty easy.
There are a few things that you have to take note.
* For standard apps in our Iphone which we are not allow to be delete, it wont work. Which means for those apps you will have to use the ugly version.
* The real apps which we downloaded from AppStore are not allow to be deleted because the pretty version of the apps we created through Cocoppa is just a shortcut app.
* There are apps that you might not be able to find in App Search and if you want you can download apps that are available in their app search for a shortcut icon.

You can create shortcut for speed dial, email to a certain person, and a website link.
Which means you can actually change how Safari app looks, the website link I put was www.google.com.

The other three standard apps which you could change is music, google maps, and messages.
Steps are the same up till the point where you click ‘Set up link’.

20130619-134829.jpg
#14 Instead of ‘App Search’ click on ‘URL’.

For music app = Music:
For messages = SMS:
For google maps = Maps:

20130619-134834.jpg
#15 Type in the exact words and click done.

20130619-134840.jpg
#16 And the rest will be the same from here (I was too lazy to go click on another icon so I just use the Whatsapp icon to show you).

For all my original apps, I store it in the last page and I don’t really get to see it.

Verdict: The app is not the most user friendly app as it crashed a few times while I was browsing for icons.
It also kinda lag but it could be my phone, this I am unsure of. Searching for icons through tags and categories may not give you the best result because the creators did not tag their icons accordingly sometimes which is why the ‘like icon’ step is important.
App search is definitely lousy and there are two apps which they insisted that I did not download from AppStore but I did. Cant do much about it when these things come up.
When you open the shortcut link, it will take a second for it to redirect back to the original app.
So unless if you can wait for that one second every time you open an app, do not beautify your phone through Cocoppa. They do have wallpapers that match with their icons too but I don’t dig those.

Hope you have fun personalizing/customizing your Iphone without jailbreaking. :)
P/S: Melaka post will be up soon, I have to reedit all my pictures that were wiped out from my phone.

Singapore : Last Stop – ArtScience Museum.

I’ve been really hardworking the past 2 weeks, feeding my blog with post after post and here’s a final blog post on my Singapore trip.

After breakfast at Em By The River, we took a cab back to Marina Bay Sands. Frankly, after staying for 3 days it definitely feels like home though I don’t fancy the outlook of the building that much. I just don’t see the beauty in it, a ship like thing on top of 3 buildings that doesn’t look impressive.
No doubt, the view from above is beautiful but believe it or not it actually manage to get in the list of world’s ugliest hotel from whichever website/magazine I couldn’t remember.
And our First World Hotel too, lol.

20121215-131612.jpg
#1 Remember the water that gush down from a hole in the middle of The Shoppes at Marina Bay? This is how Ned Kahn’s Rain Oculus looks like from above and I just stood there looking at the water swirl and swirl. It was quite addictive to just look.

20121215-131545.jpg
#2 As we walked towards ArtScience Museum.

20121215-131502.jpg
#3

20121215-131558.jpg
#4 Louis Vuitton’s flagship store.

20121215-131530.jpg
#5 ArtScience Musuem is said to represents a lotus flower and is also referred to as “The Welcoming Hand of Singapore”.

20121215-131421.jpg
#6 There were so many lotuses around ArtScience Museum, they were uncountable.

20121215-131403.jpg
#7 There were also lots of mini fishes swimming under those lotuses.

20121215-131434.jpg
#8 The lotus were really pretty. :)

20121215-131345.jpg
#9 We cant say no to museum and exhibitions.

Fatty and I are quite the partner really because we both are very much disinterested in theme parks and we prefer museums anytime.
Hate paying so much to take pictures with mascot and hate thrill rides even more because we both are lousy and have this annoying thing called height phobia.
Exception only for water theme parks and Disneyland at some guai lou’s country.

20121215-131325.jpg
#10 So instead of going to Legoland which we both don’t fancy, we went for a Lego exhibition instead called The Art Of The Brick.

20121215-131310.jpg
#11 Lego’s yellow man head.

Unlike most people, New York-based artist Nathan Sawaya never stopped building, creating and exploring his own imagination using LEGO® bricks which he has played with since a young age.
In this critically acclaimed and the first major museum exhibition to use LEGO bricks as the sole art medium, Sawaya transforms them into awe-inspiring and thought-provoking sculptures, elevating the toy to the realm of art.

Everything in the exhibition is made from lego by Nathan Sawaya and I must say he really did an impressive job.
To me, Lego is the most annoying toy ever because I don’t know what to do with it.
I cant build a single shit thing and I will just sit there, look at all the Legos and get frustrated afterwards.
I think I prefer fabrics.

20121215-131158.jpg
#12 A swimmer.

20121215-131256.jpg
#13 Where’re my hands?

20121215-131028.jpg
#14 Raindrops.

20121215-131040.jpg
#15 Before we went in further, the boys tried recreating a rain drop. I guess they had fun.

20121215-130821.jpg
#16 Fatty created a robot instead.

20121215-131122.jpg
#17 Look what’s inside of you.

These Lego humans that were created by Nathan Sawaya were mainly what he felt at a period of time or what he saw in life.
Most of it has got a meaning behind which I believe we all once felt in our lives too.

20121215-130940.jpg
#18 This is one of the Lego sculpture which I like most. Every single thing is made from Lego, from the drawer to the basket of fruits, from the brush to the palette, and even the black and white tiles were made from Lego.

20121215-130627.jpg
#19 ‘Beware of winds of life that nibble away at your sense of self. Stay Strong.’ Some words of encouragement.

20121215-130639.jpg
#20 Circle Torso, celebrate the difference in everybody. Which shape are you?

20121215-130516.jpg
#21 Pyramid?

20121215-130603.jpg
#22 This sculpture brought me a very heavy feeling because I used to sit that way in a corner of my room, crying for hours when I was upset. This just looks so sad. :(

20121215-130552.jpg
#23 Ahh, this is one of my favourite too because that red Lego man is as fat as Fatty. Haha. It doesn’t matter if your another half has change in shape and size after years because what matter most is the heart that will always stays the same. So what if he’s fat and I am flat LOLOL!

20121215-130422.jpg
#24 Playing with shadows.

20121215-130540.jpg
#25 ‘Sometimes when you’re looking for a step up, you don’t have to look further than yourself. We’re all capable of more than we think.’

20121215-130412.jpg
#26 And when you thought Lego is all about 3D, there comes the 2D portrait.

20121215-130352.jpg
#27 We tried creating our own Lego portrait with the app on their ipad.

20121215-130332.jpg
#28 Still looks a lot like Fatty. :D

20121215-130403.jpg
#29 And I look a lot like myself too.

photo 11
#30 My friend.

20121215-130312.jpg
#31 ‘Obstacles. You can let them stand in your way. Or you can overcome them and leave them in your rear-view mirror.’

20121215-130321.jpg
#32 Ideas came when Nathan Sawaya saw his friend singing on the stage.

20121215-130243.jpg
#33 Shit me, I can’t remember what is this called. Some historical building that Fatty find it impressive.

20121215-130224.jpg
#34 While I peeped through it and see what’s inside the mini building.

20121215-130253.jpg
#35 A pencil made from Lego which is taller than me.

20121215-130214.jpg
#36 Are you the same person behind that mask?

20121215-130111.jpg
#37 Fall and shadows.

20121215-130143.jpg
#38 Art Science Museum in Lego. :)

There’s a play area at the end of the exhibition for adults and kids to create their own Lego.

20121215-130045.jpg
#39 And all I did was asked, ‘HOW TO PLAY!?’ while Fatty created his sports car.

20121215-130103.jpg
#40 Presenting you the most impressive sculpture of all, a T-rex.

20121215-130037.jpg
#41 Staffs decorating a Lego Christmas tree as we were leaving.

Lego is never my kind of toy and what to me seems like the most boring toy can be a medium for a creative man to express himself.
The exhibition will be ongoing until 14th April 2013, so you still have plenty of time if you plan for a visit.

Ticket is price at $15 for tourist and $13 for Singaporeans.
For seniors age 65 and above is $14 for tourist and $12 for Singaporeans.
For child from age 2 to age 12 is $9 for tourist and $8 for Singaporeans.

You can also combine two or three different exhibitions together for a cheaper price.
Do take a look at their website for information on exhibitions.

Where the CARAVAN roams.

Here’s a blog post on what I’ve been up to, on why am I so busy recently. and also on Caravan’s updates.

Caravan was supposed to join a bazaar two weeks ago but we were still new and unprepared so I have to turn down such a beautiful offer.
From then on, me and my boyfriend started preparing for upcoming bazaar(s) though we do not have any invitation at that moment.

We both spent hours and hours doing what we need for Caravan’s first bazaar.
From designing the booth to looking for the right materials, from designing Caravan’s new logo to print production, from buying hangers to buying paper bags; it took us a very long time.
Up till this stage, we’re not entirely done but we’re certainly glad that we came this far.

Caravan’s new logo.

I especially love our cover photo, credits to Benjamin Tay. :)

And finally here’s the good news!!!
Caravan was invited to join Night Markets by Markets on this coming Saturday, 28th of July!
Joining Markets to me is a big challenge because we don’t just ‘join’ them, it works the other way round.
Markets handpicked all their vendors, so unless we are good enough or we wouldn’t stand a chance to be picked by them.
Which explains why am I so overwhelmed and happy when I read the email!

Event : Night Markets
Venue : Jaya One. Jalan Universiti, Petaling Jaya.
Date : 28th July
Time : 6pm to 12am
Activities : Buka puasa, explore, shop, mingle, make friends, and enjoy the night.

So friends, please come join us this Saturday and give us a little support for all the hard work we put in.
We will only continue to work harder.

See you guys this Saturday. :)

Prints: Aztec. Tribal. Geometric.

(Lovely patterns for download from August Empress to liven up your blog or just about anything.)

Since when and where did I have a thing for prints, I’m not too sure myself.

Confession: I have a thing for aztec, tribal, and geometric prints.
These prints seem to have a little magic in them, hypnotizing me since God knows when.

I’m not too sure about you but I absolutely love these prints!

Prints in my wardrobe, all the way from UK. :)
The benefit of having my bff at UK is that I can buy whatever I want from UK with no limitations! The only benefit but a good one, haha.
Prints on my skirt, leggings, and bikini. I cant wait to wear them all and hypnotize whoever I want to hypnotize. Heh

Of course, these are just prints on apparels and you don’t have to buy it all the way from another country if you don’t want to.
But then again, each and every store offers different aztec prints, different tribal prints, and different geometric prints with their own unique identity and style.

From UK, Malaysia, or just about anywhere in the world, these prints are still hard to resist. ;)

Robin stocked up some new prints just this week.
Be sure to get your hands on these lovely printed tops before they’re all gone. Robin’s items has been selling like hotcakes.
