Heavy post.
As my title said it all, it was a random Monday getaway a week after I’m back from Bangkok.
Yes, I wasn’t quite ready to face reality after a somewhat long holiday so the rebellious girl in me wanted to get away for a day. To somewhere out of town preferably and the partner likes the idea too.
We were torn in between both choices, Dusun or Awanmulan.
Similarity between both is high, both located at Negeri Sembilan yet to me looks so different. I was weighing the pros and cons.
I’ve came to know Dusun much earlier than Awanmulan but brushes away the thought after I settled down for Sekeping Serendah back then.
Now that I needed another getaway, I’ve got a choice to make.
I finally made my decision to picked Dusun and emailed them for a room only to get an answer that it was booked, on a frigging Monday! (More elaboration on Dusun and Awanmulan at the end of my post.)
Do I have a better choice under that circumstances? And Sekeping once again came to my mind. :D
Instead of driving for an hour to Rawang, I picked a nearer Sekeping which is Sekeping Tenggiri.
Sekeping Tenggiri sits at Bangsar, how near is that?
#1 Sekeping transformed an ordinary double story corner lot into a 7 rooms house that stands out from the rest.
#2 Ring the bell and someone will greet you.
#3 This is where you step in, into a place so different from where you just came from.
#4 7m x 3m swimming pool surrounded by rooms and plants.
#5 Walk further up from the pool, a rabbit greets you and you’ll have a place to chill.
#6 I realise guys do sometimes like to pull of nuisance face, just for nothing.
#7 Dining table large enough to fit in 10 people. There’s no kitchen here, unlike Sekeping Serendah but I don’t think you need one since there’re plenty of food nearby.
#8 We picked ‘R Garden Room’ (Rm200 per night) which is right in front of the swimming pool. :)
#10 I could just sit and chillax all day with my book or take a nap while the breeze touches my skin.
#11 Or take pictures of myself haha.
#12 Inside our room, there’s a mosquito net (thank God) and also a reading lamp.
#13 And hula hoop to keep you out of boredom.
#14 Bathroom with bricks, bricks, and bricks. One thing that I really dislike was that the bathroom kind of flooded when I shower, mini flood of course. Fatty likes it, he’s said it’s cooling for his feet but meh, I dislike wet bathroom.
#15 Empty neighbour, ‘L Garden Room’ (RM200 per night).
#16 A room not for couple, which couple wants to sleep on a different bed?
#17 Poolview room (Rm200 per night) opposite the swimming pool that looks just as nice. LOVE that green wooden door.
#18 The view when we looked up which made me think, ‘Are we still inside the city?’. What a lovely gorgeous place!
#19 Meet the two cute companion with two cute names, Pulau and Ketam.
#20 I said, ‘Hey look here, there’s a stair. Go, climb up and see what’s there’. Just because I’m afraid to climb up myself.
#21 And there, Pulau Ketam greeted Fatty but they stayed up there all the time. Why didn’t they come down?
#22 Courtyard room (Rm250 per night) sits beside the dinning room. Places for you to lay down…
#23 …and a mini courtyard for you to do whatever. Courtyard room can be a quite a private room if you want it to be, there’s a door for you to shut and you can remain in your courtyard undisturbed.
#24 Room is painted in white with a slight modern touch.
#25 Courtyard room’s bathroom.
#26 From the view below, this is Glass Room (Rm300 per night).
#27 We walked up, pushed open the door and I love what I saw.
#28 More lovely green doors, lovely chairs, and a lovely place for you to rest. Glass room can sleep three person as it is spacious enough.
#29 From these windows, we’re able to look down at our R Garden Room.
#30 I really like Glass Room and I almost didn’t want to go back down to my garden room, pfft.
#31 Opened that green door and we stepped outside, into more awesomeness.
#32 Man, I can just sit, lay, roll, nap, and chill all day.
#33 As you can tell from the look on my face, I AM HAPPY! :D
#34 Greens, greens, greens, and loads of greens somewhere in Bangsar.
We explored five rooms and the remaining two we couldn’t because there were guests staying.
So swimming time it was.
#36 The usual took place where Fatty jumped into the pool without waiting for me.
#37 I obviously was still not prepared to dip myself into the cold water.
#39 And drink more wine while Fatty didn’t wait for me.
#40 The wine heat up my body and into the pool I went. I was surprised I could swim the entire pool, not like it’s long but I couldn’t swim to save my life if you haven’t already know.
We enjoyed our stay at Sekeping Tenggiri very much.
Although it is located in the city where there’re high rises and cars everywhere but inside of Sekeping Tenggiri, you will feel as if you’ve drawn out of the city.
#41 No doubt, there wont be hills and huge trees but the trees and plants surrounding Sekeping Tenggiri is enough to pleasant the eyes.
#42 Fatty made me a cup of Milo and himself a cup of coffee to indulge in the next morning while we enjoy the morning breeze.
#43 Here, we end our lovely getaway with a cute picture of Fatty. HAHA! He must be saying, ‘Bitch hand me that phone!’.
If you wish for a super short getaway and you’re too lazy to drive for an hour or so, Sekeping Tenggiri will be a good choice.
7 rooms for you to pick from, starting with the price of Rm200 per night.
Glass room (RM300), Loft room (RM250), Skyview room (RM200), Courtyard room (RM250), R Garden room (RM200), L Garden room (RM200), and Poolview room (Rm200).
Unlike Sekeping Serendah, there’s a tv and an aircond in each and every of the room.
One thing you have to take note though, they’re just as many mosquito so prepare yourself.
Will I return? I definitely will, just not so soon.
But I cant wait to visit the remaining Sekepings.
There’re two at Bangsar, Sekeping Tenggiri and Sekeping Terasek. The business is definitely growing, seeing that from one Sekeping Serendah they now have six Sekepings all together.
Remaining Sekepings is at PJ called Sekeping Seapark, Penang called Sekeping Victoria, and Ipoh called Sekeping Kong Heng.
My interest lies in Sekeping Kong Heng, dear chance when will you come?

Now that I’m done with Sekeping Tenggiri, here are my reasons as to why I picked Dusun instead of Awanmulan with a budget of Rm300 for a night.
1. The rooms which is the most important factor among all the reasons. In fact this reason alone suffice because it’ll be such a huge turnoff if I don’t get to stay in a room which is appealing to my eyes during a getaway. Make sense.
This is Dusun’s cheapest room called Tembusu for Rm300 per night on a weekday and RM400 per night on a weekend with breakfast. (Click for larger image.)
Some might not like it but the room to me was great, I especially like the roof and ceiling. The house is built in an orang asli style and there is also a bbq pit and a herb garden. HERB GARDEN! Oh the joy!!
#44 This is Awanmulan’s Zen room which is also the cheapest and costs Rm300 per night without breakfast.
I dislike the ugly looking bed sheet. And the entire area just doesn’t feel right which I think might be the picture that did not capture the essence of the place. Of course, I cant always judge on the picture alone but again I dislike the bed sheet! View is magnificent, that I can be sure of.
#45 Awanmulan’s Teratai room which is Rm20 more expensive than Zen but also more spacious as you can tell.
Maybe you tell me, will you pay Rm320 for this space? Yes, just my preference I know but I wouldn’t.
I just cant tell what is so great about the room that deserves my Rm320.
I am so influenced by Fatty that I now hardly can stand not appealing rooms on holiday.
Such a bad habit I know!!! Not like I am anywhere near rich and yet I am so picky! But also because I know I’ve managed to find nice rooms with nice price so I will continue being picky. *roll eyes*
2. Kitchen which you should know, is important to me.
#46 Dusun, with HERBS GARDEN and SPICES free for me or you to use! How to not love you tell me!?
Kitchen inside, BBQ pit outside. Perfect.
While for Awanmulan, there’s no kitchen for both the cheapest room. Just a pantry for Teratai.
3. Swimming pool.
#47 Dusun has got an infinity pool! And if you’re willing to pay another Rm100, you can book Berembun house which is right next to the pool. Immediate access.
#48 Awanmulan’s swimming pool. It does look nice too and very long but nothing beats an infinity pool.
So, mainly three factors which explains why I settled for Dusun at first.
Awanmulan has got more rooms that look great but with a more expensive price. Definitely worth checking out if you have a big bunch of friends.
But for Rm300 as a budget, I will definitely go for Dusun.
There are so many places that I want to go, I am getting greedier and greedier as time pass. Dusun, Pulau Rawa, any Johor’s pulau actually, Bali, Boraccay, Vietnam, and all the small places! All the unseen places! Just anywhere and everywhere!
